French Development Agency — Digital Energy Challenge

The Digital Energy Challenge supports the development of innovative solutions for energy access, the integration of renewable energy and public utility performance improvement. The 2023 Call for Projects targets projects based in Sub-Saharan Africa. Projects must have a core element of digital technology (telecom, computer, or cloud-based). The Challenge will award grant-based funding of €150 thousand to 5-8 start-up projects. The application deadline for project submission is 15 May 2023. Digital Energy Challenge

World Resources Institute — Land Accelerator Brazil

The Land Accelerator is a training and mentorship program targeted specifically toward businesses that restore degraded forests, farmland, and pasture. The Land Accelerator Brazil specifically targets entrepreneurs whose businesses restore Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. Participants profit from mentorship and networking opportunities, technical training, and workshops. Five companies will receive financial support of up to R$50 thousand. DeserTech — Water in Rural Africa

DeserTech launches a challenge competition to bring water technology to rural villages in Africa. The winning technology will get a sponsored Proof of Concept (POC)  with Innovation:Africa. Innovation: Africa provides clean water to remote villages by drilling into the borehole and pumping water throughout rural areas. DeserTech is looking for off-grid, low-maintenance Israeli technologies that provide safe drinking water to villages. The winner will collaborate with Innovation: Africa in one country, with the potential for future implementations. The application deadline is 28 February 2023. Details

Expo Live — Innovation Impact Grant Programme

Expo Live supports novel solutions that address pressing environmental and climate challenges. The program offers up to US$50 thousand in funding to support the growth of social enterprises, startups and grassroots projects from around the world that offer creative solutions to pressing challenges. The Grant Program is open to social entrepreneurs, SMEs, non-profit organizations, and government entities. Interested applicants should submit a pre-proposal by 01 March 2023. U.S. Government — Advancing Environmental Journalism in the Southeast Asia Region

The U.S. Government announces an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for projects that advance environmental journalism in Southeast Asia. Projects may have a duration of up to 48 months and should have an impact that leads to reforms. Applicants can request grants between US$740 thousand and US$1.4 million. Eligibility extends to U.S.- or foreign-based non-profit organizations, institutions of higher education, and business. Applications are due 03 April 2023. Details

CMCC Foundation — Climate Change Communication Award

The CMCC Climate Change Communication Award aims to showcase and promote the most creative and impactful initiatives that increase public awareness and disseminate science-based information and data related to climate change. Eligible submissions must present projects, initiatives and tools that communicate climate change through various forms such as arts, theater, video, podcasts, music, photography, journalism, gaming, education, or the use of digital channels and tools. The winning project will receive a cash prize of €5,000. The Award is open to individuals, teams or organizations, regardless of nationality. Eligible submissions must be sent by 15 June 2023. Credit Suisse — Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG 14 (Life Below Water)

The Young One World Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 14 seeks solutions that could protect and/or restore existing ocean based resources. The challenge welcomes solutions from entrepreneurs with for-profit enterprises. The winner will receive a US$50 thousand project startup grant and 12-months of mentorship from Credit Suisse. European Institute of Innovation and Technology — Reconnecting with Nature

New European Bauhaus supports European startups or scaleups developing innovative solutions aligned with “reconnecting people with nature.” Companies accepted into the program will benefit from a €10 thousand grant and active support in the form of workshops and events. Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area — Water-Energy-Ecosystem-Food Nexus

The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA) aims to leverage knowledge on the Nexus management of Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems resources in the Mediterranean region. PRIMA seeks concepts and practical solutions that address the interdependency of food, water and energy securities by analyzing trade-offs and synergies between sectors and potential impact on social stability due to resource shortages and climate change. Projects can request up to €3.1 million for a period of 36 months. Companies/enterprises, non-profit organizations, NGOs, public research organizations, and universities from the following non-EU countries are eligible: Israel, Tunisia, Turkey, Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Morocco. Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area — Award

PRIMA WEFE Nexus Award is assigned to research teams and practitioners that have devised and demonstrated the successful implementation of combined management practices of water, energy, food and ecosystem resources at the local or regional scale in the Mediterranean area. PRIMA will award two winners with €10 thousand each. The contestants for the prize must be a legal entity. The deadline for nominations is 22 March 2023. PRIMA Award
