Society of Wetland Scientists — Graduate Research Fellowship

The SWS Wetland Ambassadors Program is a student research program that provides graduate students with the opportunity to travel to another country and conduct wetland research. A grant of up to US$5 thousand will be awarded by SWS, while hosting institutions may provide for lab costs, meal plans, or room and board during the internship. The applicant must currently be enrolled in a M.S. or Ph.D. program related to wetland science (e.g. biology, environmental science, environmental engineering, etc.). University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland — MENA Young Scientists Mobility Grants

The “young scientists’ mobility grant” aims to develop new research partnerships and collaborations between Switzerland and MENA countries. Priority countries under this call are: Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Qatar, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates. Mobility grants can be awarded to young scientists who hold a Bachelor or Master’s degree (no PhD) and have less than 6 years of professional research experience. The call is open for activities and research visits in all scientific disciplines and fields of research. The applicant’s mobility visit should have a minimum duration of 4 weeks and with a maximum of CHF5 thousand per grant. (Note: The application form must be completed by the Swiss main applicant). Government of India — Australia-India Strategic Research Fund

The Government of India invites research projects to apply to the Strategic Research Fund (AISRF). Priority areas for collaborative research projects are energy and storage (batteries) and marine science. Eligible organizations include universities, research laboratories, and non-profit organizations.The Indian Government will sponsor the direct costs for international airfares, living expenses, manpower-salaries and consumables. Tropical Biology Association — Specialist Course: Citizen Science in Africa

The Tropical Biology Association provides specialist courses in tropical biology. The current specialist course “Citizen Science in Africa” aims to build the capacity of science leaders to use citizen science to collect data on biodiversity for conservation management. A limited number of scholarships will be available. Applicants are invited from non-governmental organisations, universities, research and conservation institutions and government research departments. The application deadline is 31 January 2019. Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education — STEM Scholars Program

The Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education offers scholarships to young Arab citizens for university studies in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) at any of the Foundation’s partner universities. U.S. Department of State — Youth Leadership Program with Burma

The Office of Citizen Exchanges announces an open competition to conduct a four-week U.S.-based exchange program for teenagers and adult educators. The activities for each program will focus on civic education, community engagement and prepare participants to conduct projects at home that serve a community need. Applicants should plan to provide U.S.-based programming for 17-18 youth and 2-3 adult participants from Burma. Applicants may request up to US$190 thousand in project funding. German Federal Ministry of Education and Research — German-African Innovation Incentive Award

The Innovation Award will be presented to researchers in Africa and their German partners for proven outstanding collaborative research projects in the fields of environmental sciences, bioeconomy, resource management, and others. Project grants of a maximum €150 thousand are provided for a maximum period of 24 months. Applications may be submitted by universities, research institutions and as well as commercial companies. Chinese Academy of Sciences — PhD Fellowships in China 2019

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) jointly invite applications for the CAS-TWAS President’s PhD Fellowship Programme to pursue PhD studies in China. The participating institutions are the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences; the University of Science and Technology of China; and CAS institutes around China. Eligible fields of study include agricultural sciences, various fields of agricultural sciences, biology, and other areas of the natural sciences and engineering. The programme will award up to 200 scholarships to non-Chinese applicants worldwide. The maximum age of applicants is 35. The application deadline is 31 March 2019. Opportunity

Organization for Tropical Studies — Research Scholarships 2019

The OTS manages a research fellowship program to support field research in tropical biology and related fields. The program offers three types of awards: pilot awards for exploratory research; thesis research fellowships; and ECTS-GS fellowships. Most awards are restricted to three OTS field stations in Costa Rica. Exceptions are one annual fellowship for research at the Cocha Cashu field station in Peru, and the Hovore-Horn Entomology awards in any Latin American country.
