Oriental Bird Club — Bird Conservation in Asia
The OBC Conservation Fund makes grants for bird conservation in Asia. Grant-making priorities are projects that benefit globally threatened bird species; that conserve threatened bird habitats; and that are led by Asian residents. Small Conservation Awards are up to £1,500 for projects of 12-18 months, with applications before 31 March of each year. World Wide Fund For Nature — Prince Bernhard Scholarships for Nature Conservation 2018
WWF supports professional training and formal studies of individuals working in disciplines directly relevant to nature conservation. Eligibility extends to mid-career nationals from Africa; Asia and Pacific; Latin America and Caribbean; Eastern Europe; and the Middle East. The CANSEA scientific platform is a network of research partners keen to implement agro-ecology and conservation agriculture in Southeast Asia. CANSEA announces its third call for proposals to promote and strengthen conservation agriculture in the four CANSEA member countries: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam. World Wildlife Fund U.S. — Grants for Conservation Workshops in 2017-2018
WWF-US offers up to US$7,500 for workshops that train communities, stakeholders, park guards, and others on conservation issues. Applying organizations must have an established presence in an eligible country (countries are listed in the announcement). The workshops should focus on practical skills and field activities to increase local learning and build capacity. U.S. Agency for International Development — Sustainable Fisheries in the Philippines
USAID/Manila announces a 5-year program called “Fish Right” to enhance the sustainable use and resilience of coastal and marine resources that provide food, livelihoods, and coastal protection to communities in the Philippines. Fish Right will focus on marine key biodiversity areas, with special attention on “wild” or capture fisheries and the communities that depend on them. The Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network, in partnership with the Thomson Reuters Foundation, announces the ACCCRN Storytelling Competition 2017. The competition invites climate stories about impacts, actions, and innovations under the theme “Beat the Heat: How inclusive cities are coping with rising temperatures”. With funding by the UK Government and implementation led by Rothamsted Research, the Agri-Tech in China: Newton Network + (ATCNN) addresses challenges facing the agri-tech and agri-food sector in China. The program will provide UK excellence in satellite imaging, remote sensing, smart sensors, robotics, and data-intensive science for new solutions for agricultural productivity and sustainability in rural China. Innovate UK and the Guangdong Department of Science and Technology seek to support innovative urban solutions in Guangdong province, China. The themes include smart platforms for sustainable urban environments, as well as others. Total project costs can range from £350 thousand to £500 thousand for projects of up to two years. The Water for Women Fund aims to improve health, gender equality, and well-being of Asian and Pacific communities. Australia’s DFAT invites proposals for projects from civil society and not-for-profit organisations that promote access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). The eligible countries are Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Kiribati, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Vietnam.
