Oriental Bird Club — Bird Conservation in Asia
The OBC Conservation Fund makes grants for bird conservation in Asia. Grant-making priorities are projects that benefit globally threatened bird species; that conserve threatened bird habitats; and that are led by Asian residents. Small Conservation Awards are up to £1,500 for projects of 12-18 months, with applications before 31 March of each year. UNESCO — Plastic Initiative Award & Photo Contest
UNESCO Bangkok invites schools, universities and other institutions to apply for the Plastic Initiative Award. Educational institutions from the Asia-Pacific region with established projects related to reuse/reduce/recycle, plastic waste management and innovations to solve the plastic pollution issues are eligible. The winner will receive a trophy and publicity. Furthermore, the winner will be invited to the Donor/Fundraising event (September 2019) at the National Science Museum of Thailand to give a presentation. United Nations University — ProSPER.Net Leadership Program 2019
The UNU Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability is the Secretariat for ProSPER.Net (Promotion of Sustainability in Postgraduate Education and Research Network) in the Asia-Pacific region. The ProSPER.Net Leadership Programme helps its participants to develop interdisciplinary skills for sustainable development initiatives in local, regional, or global contexts. This year’s theme is ‘Engineering Approaches to Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Towards Sustainable Development in the Asia-Pacific Region’. Individuals from the Asia-Pacific region interested and working in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and management are invited to apply. Fellowships to cover the costs of participation are available. Australian Government — Australian Aid: Friendship Grants (Round 2)
The Australian Aid: Friendship Grants program supports organisations from across Australia and provides funding for aid activities in the Indo-Pacific. Eligible Australian community organisations are encouraged to apply for funding of AU$30 thousand to AU$60 thousand in three annual grant rounds. The program funds development activities that strengthen an overseas community’s capacity or socio-economic situation and improve the lives of poor and vulnerable people. U.S. Department of State — Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy
The U.S. Department of State announces an opportunity for organizations to submit applications to the Asia Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy (EDGE) initiative. The aim of the program is to grow sustainable and secure energy markets throughout the Indo-Pacific. Eligibility is limited to U.S. and foreign non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and public international organizations. Innovate UK and the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) seeks applications for the Newton-Ungku Omar Fund. The challenge invites innovative products, processes and services with focus on waste management or mobility. Eligibility extends to UK based businesses with at least one partner organisation, business, or academic institution located in Malaysia. SEARCA and FSC — Summer School in Agriculture and Food Systems
The Summer School “Transformative Changes in Agriculture and Food Systems”, jointly organized by the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) and the Food Security Center (FSC) of the University of Hohenheim in Germany, will take place in Laguna, Philippines (9-27 September 2019). The FSC will offer up to 16 scholarships for PhD students from Africa, Asia, and Latin America to participate in the course. Earth Journalism Network — Environmental Data Journalism Workshop for Indonesian Journalists
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) and Resource Watch seek applications from Indonesian journalists for a workshop in Jakarta (26 and 27 August 2019). Participants will learn how to discover, use and visualize open data in their environmental reporting. Journalists should be based in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, or Bekasi and have a record of reporting on scientific, environmental, natural resource management and/or infrastructural development topics.
