Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation — City Region Food Systems

The SDC calls for proposals for innovations in city region food systems that can reach millions of people living in poverty. The proposed projects under this call should focus on small and middle-sized towns (market towns) in developing countries. Eligibility extends to local or international institutions. Woodard & Curran Foundation — Water and Climate Change

The Woodard & Curran Foundation funds innovative projects that apply or advances technology by addressing water issues relating to climate change. One total grant of US$100 thousand will be awarded over three consecutive years. Eligibility extends to US-based non-profit organizations. University of Michigan — Conference on Sustainability and Development

The University of Michigan seeks abstracts for presentations, workshops, and applications for financial assistance from students and scholars from lower-income countries for participation in the international conference on Sustainability and Development (9-11 November 2018). The conference themes are Sustainable Development and Indigenous Peoples, Climate Change, Agriculture, Water, Sanitation, and Health, Biodiversity and Conservation, Energy Provision and Access, among others. Antipode Foundation — International Workshop Awards

The Antipode Foundation promotes scientific research, education and makes scholarships in the field of radical geography. The International Workshop Awards are intended to support geographers holding events (including conferences, workshops, seminars, summer schools and action research meetings) that further analyses of geographical issues and engender the development of a new and better society. Successful candidates receive up to £10 thousand (or its equivalent in the awardee’s currency of choice). U.S. Agency for International Development — Nutrition Innovations in Complex Environments

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks organizations to co-create, co-design, co-invest, and collaborate on research and development innovations to prevent and treat nutrition vulnerabilities in complex environments. Areas of interest include innovations to maximize impact across sectors, including health, agriculture and humanitarian assistance. Barcelona Zoo Foundation — Grants for Research and Conservation Projects

The Barcelona Zoo Foundation provides grants and financial aid to research and conservation projects focussing on animal wellbeing and knowledge of species in their environment; applied conservation techniques, both in situ and ex situ, at a global level; and Mediterranean biodiversity. Eligibility extends to individuals and non-profit organizations. Projects may be submitted in English, Spanish, or Catalan. GHR Foundation — BridgeBuilder Competition

The GHR Foundation invites proposals that address urgent global challenges in radically new ways. The BridgeBuilder Challenge to invite solutions that connect peace, prosperity, and the planet. Submissions should target a specific, pressing, and solvable need across two or more of these themes. The competition is open to non-profit and for-profit organizations established for at least one year. Proposed projects should not be longer than three years. Awards are up to US$500 thousand. U.S. Department of State — Protecting Forests

The U.S. Department of State announces a funding opportunity for activities under the “Protecting Forests, Sourcing Responsibly” project. Projects should focus on actively developing and implementing REDD+ programs to meet climate and conservation goals as well as reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, and improve rural livelihoods in developing countries. Projects may request up to US$740,740 for 36 months. Eligibility is limited to U.S. and foreign non-profit organizations and educational institutions. U.S. Department of State — Reducing Marine Litter

The U.S. Department of State seeks proposals for projects that use environmentally sustainable waste management and/or reduce the amount of abandoned, lost, or discarded fishing gear. Four grants of up to US$246,875 each will be awarded for work that will support efforts that help prevent marine litter from entering the ocean. Unilever — Young Entrepreneurs Awards 2018

The Unilever Young Entrepreneurs Awards invite nominations of individuals ages 18 to 35 anywhere in the world who have initiatives, products, or services that address sustainability challenges in four categories. The categories are “farm to table” (sustainable agriculture and food and drink nutrition); opportunities for women; waste management; and water management. The awards will be made to individuals who are putting their ideas into action, i.e., who are already having an impact. Unilever will recognise up to eight winners in 2018, each of whom will be awarded a cash prize in addition to one-to-one mentoring support for a year. The overall winner will receive the “HRH The Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize” of €50 thousand. The deadline for nominations is 30 June 2018. Link
