The IDEAL Small Grants Program provides funding to existing projects with the aim to identify and address knowledge and capacity gaps in food and nutrition security programs around the world. The Applied Research Award (ARA) consists of Micro Grants funded up to $300 thousand for up to 12 months of implementation. Projects should focus on the development of tools or conduct topic-specific learning events. Applicants may be U.S. and non-U.S. NGOs, for-profit organizations, or institutions of higher education. The Belmont Forum launches a collaborative research networking call on the theme: Transdisciplinary Research for Pathways to Sustainability. The Belmont Forum will support collaborative research networking activities that focus on approaches to develop Earth-system-based transformation pathways for sustainable development. Filmmakers Without Borders — Support for Independent Filmmakers
Filmmakers Without Borders seeks applications for its Filmmaking Grants to support independent filmmakers around the world via grants and other funding initiatives. Supported projects include narrative films, documentary films, and new media projects that align with themes of social justice, empowerment, and climate change. Grants are available for all of the following stages of production: Development (up to US$1,000); Production (up to US$5,000); Post-production: (up to US$2,500); and Film Festival Applications (up to US$750). Agropolis Foundation — Louis Malassis Prize for Agriculture and Food 2021
The Louis Malassis International Scientific Prize for Agriculture and Food recognizes contributions in research, development, and capacity building in the North, South, or the Mediterranean Region to sustainably improve food and agricultural systems while addressing food security and poverty reduction. The Prize will be awarded in three categories: distinguished scientist; promising young scientist; and outstanding career in agricultural development. The winner of each category will be awarded €20 thousand. LandSense — Data-driven Solutions for Environmental Monitoring
The LandSense Challenge targets individuals, web-entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs with innovative IT solutions for environmental monitoring. The IT solutions need to address one of the three LandSense domains: (1) Urban Landscape Dynamics; (2) Agricultural Land Use; or (3) Forest & Habitat Monitoring. Selected finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas online to an expert jury. The grand prize winner will receive €2,000 and a 1 year subscription to Sentinel Hub Enterprise. Adaptation Fund — Readiness Grants
The Adaptation Fund announces that small grants are available under the Climate Finance Readiness Programme. South-South Cooperation grants are intended to increase peer-to-peer support among accredited National Implementing Entities (NIEs) and those seeking accreditation. Project Formulation Grants (up to a maximum of US$50 thousand) help build the capacity of NIEs in project preparation and design. Technical Assistance Grants are aimed at strengthening the capacity of NIEs in the areas of environmental, social, and gender risk management. Interdisciplinary Conservation Network — Workshop for Early-Career Researchers
The Interdisciplinary Conservation Network (ICN) is a bi-annual workshop that provides a select group of early-career researchers with the opportunity to produce a collaborative piece of research, take part in capacity building activities, and develop global networks with fellow researchers. The ICN 2020-21 workshop structure includes a series of virtual collaborative meetings (September 2020 to April 2021) and a 3-day in-person event (April 2021) in Oxford, UK. ICN will provide accommodation and meals for non-Oxford based attendees. Additionally, up to six total bursaries will be available to support travel expenses for international attendees. United Nations Economic Commission for Europe — Global Photo Contest
The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) invites submissions for a global contest on flora and fauna in the time of COVID-19 in support of the restoration of ecosystems. UNECE seeks submissions under the theme “Humans Locked Down, Nature Unlocked”. Photographs may show animals walking through deserted cities, ducks and dolphins reappearing in canals and nearing shores, birds settling in gardens, butterflies flying undisturbed, plants growing in the cracks of empty streets, etc. Each individual can submit a maximum of 3 photographs. The submitted photographs may appear in a web-based gallery and will be promoted by the United Nations. The best 13 photographs will be used to illustrate a 2021 calendar of the United Nations.
