UK Royal Society — Newton Mobility Grants

Scientists in Brazil, Thailand, and Turkey are invited to apply for the Royal Society’s mobility grants to establish or strengthen research partnerships with collaborators in the UK. These grants are available through the Newton Fund, which is part of the UK’s official development assistance. Awards are available for up to three months, one year, or two years. Up to £12 thousand are available under this scheme. Applicants can represent any areas of the natural sciences, including agricultural and biological sciences. Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent research experience, and have a permanent position or fixed-term contract in an eligible university or research institute. Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education — Calls for Joint Proposals on Food and Nutrition Security

Nuffic invites applications for Joint Proposals on Food and Nutrition in Vietnam, Tunisia, Sahel, Mali, and Benin. The Nuffic’s Orange Knowledge Programme aims to strengthen professionals and organisations through education and training. Proposed projects must contribute to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, promote sustainable agriculture, and ensure availability and sustainable management of water for all. Funding per institutional collaboration project is in the range of €600 thousand to €1 million. Deadlines vary per country, please check carefully. Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture — Full Master’s and PhD Scholarships 2020

Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) offers scholarships for PhD and Master studies. The scholarships are intended for graduate and postgraduate students from Southeast Asia who are regular employees of academic or research institutions or government agencies. Areas of specialization include: Agricultural/Biological sciences, Agro-industrial Technology,  Environmental Sciences, Forestry and Fisheries, among others. The scholarship covers tuition and other school fees; travel allowance; thesis/dissertation support; book and supplies allowance; health insurance; and stipend for food, lodging and incidental expenses. National Geographic Society — Equity and the Natural World

The National Geographic Society (NatGeo) seeks projects that will document underrepresented communities that have traditionally been given less consideration in stories of the environmental movement. Proposals may focus on all aspects of local and traditional communities, e.g., land use issues; indigenous heroes; impacts of environmental degradation; climate-related migration, etc. Applicants must have strong track records as storytellers (journalists, photographers, videographers, cartographers). The British Academy — Research Chair in Sustainability (Jordan)

The goal of the Jordan-UK El Hassan bin Talal Research Chair in Sustainability is to enhance the research and innovation capacity of Jordan for long-term sustainable development. The call is open to applicants with expertise in any area relevant to sustainability, including but not limited to food security, water, energy and the environment, climate change, and sustainable livelihoods. Scholars will be placed for a full-time four-year appointment at the RSS in Amman, Jordan. The available award is up to £240 thousand per year over 4 years. The application deadline is 06 May 2020. Swiss Innovation Agency — EUREKA Globalstars Cooperation with India

EUREKA Globalstars invites proposals for collaborative industry-led R&D projects within the scope “Key Enabling Technologies for Healthcare, Agriculture and Water.” Collaborative research projects should apply key enabling technologies to tackle challenges in healthcare, agriculture or water, resulting in accessible and marketable solutions. Research teams must include at least one Indian organization, one Swiss company and one Swiss research organization. In Switzerland, a total of CHF 1 million is available for grants. Humboldt University — Yousef Jameel Scholarship Fund 2020-2021

The Yousef Jameel Scholarship Fund at Humboldt University annually awards five scholarships for doctoral studies in the natural sciences to applicants from Arabic countries. The program seeks applicants in the disciplines of sustainable desert agriculture; plant-based medicine; and renewable energy. The stipend awarded is €1340 per month, plus material expenses. Applicants should have good written and spoken English, as well as communications skills in German. Applications from qualified women are particularly encouraged. United Nations — Agri-Food Value Chains for Mountain Communities

The Mountain Innovation Program aims to improve the lives of mountain communities and protecting mountain environments around the world. The current opportunity calls for projects that focus on techniques to leverage resources and increase the resilience of mountain communities through the enhancement of agriculture-food value in Guatemala, Rwanda, Papua New Guinea, Lesotho, and Nepal. Only entities working with local civil society organizations and/or community-based organizations in priority countries are eligible to apply. The maximum grant funding per projects is US$140 thousand. The deadline is 05 April 2020. Link 

Mekong Institute – Mekong Cooperation Fund

The Mekong-ROK Cooperation Fund seeks applications for the implementation of cooperation activities in Mekong countries (Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Laos). The Fund provides grants of up to US$300 thousand for regional projects. Eligible project areas include agriculture and rural development, and environment, among others. Applications are invited from government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and academic institutions. Development banks and individuals are not eligible. Dutch Research Council — Scientific Research Collaboration Climate Smart Agriculture

NWO (Netherlands) and the Department of Biotechnology (India) call for scientific collaboration between The Netherlands and India that focus on Climate Smart Agriculture. Research institutes and other collaborations of organizations (both public and private) can apply for funding of joint research projects. Projects should focus on interdisciplinary research in order to develop application-oriented solutions for adaptation of agriculture to climate change. Projects can have a maximum duration of five years. The maximum funding amount is €700 thousand from NWO and Rs. 5.5 Crores from DBT. The application deadline is 07 April 2020. Find the call
