Michigan State University — Agricultural Development Studies and Research 2018
With funding from the U.S. government, the Borlaug Higher Education Agricultural Research and Development (BHEARD) Program is implemented by Michigan State University. The program supports long-term training of agricultural researchers at the master’s and doctoral levels. BHEARD invites applicants from Mali for study in the USA or other selected countries. Israeli Agency for International Development — Professional Course on Agricultural Development in Arid Regions
Israel’s Agency for International Development (MASHAV) offers professional short courses in Israel in subject areas that include agriculture, energy, health, education, and social development. MASHAV offers a limited number of scholarships to cover course fees, accommodation, medical insurance, and other expenses in Israel. The international course on “Agricultural Development in Arid Regions” will focus on the efficient use, protection and development of water resources, management of salinity, and creation of long-term economically and environmentally sound operations. The course is geared towards professionals from governmental and non-governmental institutions, universities, research institutes and/or private sector involved in agricultural development in arid and semi-arid regions. Shell International — Energy, Water and Food Challenge
The Shell Ideas360 competition invites students from all around the world to develop ideas to tackle the pressures on the world’s Food, Water and Energy resources. The theme of the competition is “People & Planet – the Energy, Water and Food Challenge”. It is open to students currently studying as a full time bachelor’s or master’s student at a recognized university. The finalist teams will be assigned a Shell Mentor to help them develop their ideas and fly to Make the Future, London (in July 2018). The winning team will win a National Geographic Adventure. BioInnovate Africa — Improve Productivity of Smallholder Farmers in East Africa
The BioInnovate Africa Programme wants to improve productivity of smallholder farmers and communities in eastern Africa through value addition and agro/bioprocessing. Thematic areas include (1) Value addition to agroproduce; (2) Agro/biowaste conversion; and (3) Bioinnovation policy analysis and development. Grants range from US$ 250 – US$ 750 thousand for a maximum period of three years. World Academy of Sciences — Visiting Experts Program
The Elsevier Foundation and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) are partners in the Visiting Expert Program in sustainability science. The program supports visits of distinguished scientists to institutions in developing countries, with a focus on 48 Least Developed Countries (LDCs). Host institutions in eligible countries can invite distinguished scientists to collaborate in research and training. The visit should provide a minimum stay of two weeks at the host institution. Chinese Academy of Sciences — PhD Fellowships in China 2018
The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) jointly invite applications for the CAS-TWAS President’s PhD Fellowship Programme to pursue PhD studies in China. The participating institutions are the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences; the University of Science and Technology of China; and CAS institutes around China. Eligible fields of study include agricultural sciences, various fields of biology, and other areas of the natural sciences and engineering. The Overseas Development Institute (ODI) is an independent think tank on international development and humanitarian issues. The ODI Fellowship Scheme appoints highly qualified postgraduate economists and statisticians through a competitive selection process. The fellowship scheme is open to candidates of all nationalities who have a master’s degree or PhD in economics, statistics or a related field. Suitable specialised qualifications at postgraduate level include agricultural economics, and environmental economics, among others. Belgium’s University Commission for Development — Student Micro-Projects 2018
The student micro-project program offers students in the Wallonia region of Belgium the opportunity to set up a project in partnership with students from a developing country. Topic areas may include water resources, female empowerment, and several others. The ARES program offers financial support of up to € 15 thousand per micro-project.
