ONE International — ONE Africa Award

The ONE Africa Award honors the exceptional work of individuals and organizations based in Africa to help Africa achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The amount of the award is US$100 thousand, which may be split into more than one prize. Eligibility for the award extends to civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, and other groups based in Africa that can demonstrate commitment and success in advocacy to promote the attainment of one or more of the SDGs. Media Foundation for West Africa — Climate Change Journalism Fellowship

The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) accepts applications for the Climate Change Journalism Fellowship. The aim is to train and capacitate local journalists to report on the climate change crisis and how it is affecting the lives and livelihoods in African countries. Fellows will work remotely from their home countries and participate in virtual training workshops, seminars, and speaking engagements. The opportunity is open to journalists from Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Niger, Togo, Benin, Guinea, and Mali. The deadline for application is 30 September 2022. Oxford University — Visiting Fellowship Program

The AfOx Visiting Fellowship Program is designed to provide African researchers an opportunity to build international networks and focus on a project of their choice. The Fellowship provides fellows with an opportunity to work on a project in collaboration with Oxford-based scholars, while benefiting from the resources available at Oxford University for research, writing, networking. U.S. African Development Foundation — Africa Entrepreneurship Challenge

The U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) requests proposals for the USADF Accelerate Africa Entrepreneurship Challenge. Selected African youth and women-led enterprises will receive funding in the form of grant capital of up to US$250 thousand. Projects must be innovative scalable enterprises that address local needs and have an impact on communities and livelihoods. To be considered for the Challenge, applicants must be 100% African-owned and -managed. Applicants must submit the completed application before 30 September 2022. Facebook — Community Accelerator Program

Facebook announces its Community Accelerator Program to provide training, support and funding to enable great communities to make an even greater positive impact in the world. Facebook will award up to US$40 thousand per community and provide personalized coaching. The program is open to communities that have a presence in Facebook Groups with leaders who reside in the following countries: Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Brazil, United States, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangladesh, United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, Tanzania, Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon, Jordan, United Arab Emirate & India. African Academy of Sciences — African Postdoctoral Fellowships

The African Postdoctoral Training Initiative (APTI) supports early-career African scientists who wish to become scientific leaders in their community. APTI makes 4-year postdoctoral fellowships where Fellows are placed in various laboratories for 2 years before returning to their home institutions in Africa for another 2 years of research. Applicants must be citizens of an African country and currently employed in an academic, research, or government position. The fellowship provides salary support of up to US$38 per year, research support of up to US$50 thousand per year, and equipment purchase support of up to US$50 thousand. Serengeti Energy — Renewable Energy Incubator Program

The Umoja Incubator is an incubator program for aspiring developers in the renewable energy industry who have big ideas but lack the experience or financial capabilities to submit their proposals to the Serengeti initiative. Serengeti Energy will invest in renewable energy technology (wind, solar and hydro only) with a size between 3 MW-50 MW across Africa. The application is open to any company with projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. The winning projects will enter into a partnership with Serengeti Energy and receive financing. Commonwealth Secretariat — Commonwealth Youth Awards 2023

The Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Work recognize individuals ages 15 to 29 who lead innovative development projects in themes that include agriculture, small enterprise, skills training, climate change, environmental protection, sustainable livelihoods, and poverty reduction. The program selects regional winners from each of Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. Winners are awarded grants of up to a total of £5 thousand in total to advance their projects. Global Development Network — Strengthening Research Capacities in Africa

The Global Development Network (GDN) aims to strengthen African social science research institutions and boost the production of research by young researchers. Research institutions can receive funding of up to €100 thousand for capacity building activities in support of young researchers. Eligibility extends to francophone African research institutions on national and regional public policies in the political, social and economic fields. Irish Aid — SDG Challenge 2022

The SDG Challenge invites research teams to develop innovative solutions relating to challenges associated with climate, biodiversity and the environment. Funding is available for collaborative research teams based in Ireland and Irish Aid partner countries (South Africa, Ethiopia, Malawi, Uganda, Vietnam, Tanzania, Zambia, Mozambique and Sierra Leone). Teams will receive up to €300 thousand to develop their idea. Teams must include expertise in the STEM research area underpinning the proposed solution. The application deadline is 22 September 2022.
