The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks concept papers from qualified entities to implement the Scaling Sustainability and Resilience of Community Conservancies and Coastal Ecosystems of Kenya program. The goal of this activity is to improve the resilience of vulnerable populations and environments by increasing the capability of local communities to mitigate against recurrent environmental, economic, socio and political risks. USAID intends to provide US$9.8 million to prevent the loss of biodiversity, up to US$2.5 million for Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and US$2 million for Feed the Future activities. The Caribbean Policy Development Centre seeks partners to implement a project to strengthen the enabling environment for Caribbean NGOs to provide essential developmental services to vulnerable communities by improving access to resources and increasing institutional capacity building opportunities post-COVID 19. Applicants are encouraged to include specific activities in their actions to increase livelihood opportunities for vulnerable groups in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. Grant requests must fall between US$10 thousand and US$12 thousand. To be eligible, the applicant must be non-profit-making and be a legally registered and established organization in the Caribbean States: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and Grenadines. The Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship seeks proposals from researchers with experience in the fields of social sciences and humanities but with interest in interfacing with earth system science. The aim is to overcome the disciplinary boundaries between earth science, and in particular climate science, and social/human sciences. European Fellowships support experienced researchers for a full time period between 12 and 24 months. The Specializing Master aims to strengthen transversal knowledge and support African Universities by contributing to upgrading their staff and nurturing a qualified generation of skilled young researchers and lecturers. The program is designed around 6 didactic modules (1 intro module, 2 transversal modules, 3 technical modules). The course is designed for young talents with an academic perspective: young lecturers and junior researchers. Scholarships covering the entire cost of the Master will be available for 35 applicants. The P3 Awards (People, Prosperity, and the Planet) fund research projects in air quality, water resources, health, and chemical safety. Grants are up to US$25 thousand for one year (Phase I); winners in Phase I will be eligible to apply for larger grants to follow. The competition is open to U.S. institutions of higher education to support teams of undergraduate and/or graduate students. Collaboration and partnerships with colleges and universities outside the USA are permitted (up to 40% of the grant can be contracted to an international partner), but only U.S. institutions are eligible to apply. The African Women’s Development Fund supports organizations working towards the empowerment of African women and the achievement of gender equality on the continent. The six thematic areas include one on economic empowerment and livelihoods related to food security, agriculture, climate change, and other issues. The ChangemakerXchange summit and accelerator program for ‘Empathy Changemakers’ for young social innovators aims to develop social-emotional competencies in children and youth to unleash their full potential to take responsibility for themselves, others and the planet. The aim of the summit is to build a cross-sectoral network of changemakers that work together to address societal issues in a collaborative manner. Eligibility extends to participants who lead, co-lead, have founded, or have co-founded an ongoing social venture that addresses a relevant social problem, including in the theme of Environment (among others). Applicants must come from Europe and be aged 18 – 35. ChangemakerXchange will cover the travel costs and conference costs for the event to be held in Cologne (Germany, October 2021).
