The UNESCO-Russia Mendeleev International Prize in the Basic Sciences aims to promote and honor excellence in the basic sciences (chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biology). Each year, two winners receive a financial award of US$250 thousand each. UNESCO invites the governments of Member States, organizations maintaining official partnerships with UNESCO, international scientific unions and universities to propose individual candidates for the 2022 edition. Candidates must be individuals with major achievements in terms of development, diffusion, and international cooperation in the basic sciences, which led to a significant transformational impact on a regional or global scale. The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) supports regional transboundary programs to address critical challenges in climate change, food security, water and related disasters, land use, and air quality. The small grants program is to help grow the network of government agencies, universities, and institutions in the HKH region that utilize geospatial tools and information to improve decision-making. SERVIR-HKH expects to award 4-5 grants. Individual grants will not exceed US$30 thousand. Applications will be accepted from institutions based in Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan. The EU-LAC Interest Group launches a Joint Call to enhance the bi-regional cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation. The aim of the call is to initiate sustainable and multilateral research cooperation between researchers from Europe, Latin-America and the Caribbean countries. Transnational consortia are invited to submit proposals related to six topics in the thematic fields of Global Challenges, Health, Biodiversity, and Energy. The U.S. Embassy announces an open competition for organizations and individuals to submit applications to carry out a project in Burundi. Priority program areas include projects that mitigate the effects of climate change, promote minimizing waste and regenerating our resources, and support protecting the natural environment and sustainable agriculture. Programs and projects will be funded with up to US$20 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations, academic institutions and individuals. The TWAS-CUI Fellowship Program for Postgraduate Research offers fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Pakistan) who wish to obtain their PhD in natural sciences. Fellowships are tenable in the departments and laboratories of the campuses of the COMSATS University Islamabad (Pakistan). Duration is from six months to a maximum of 3 years (18 months for a sandwich program). CUI will provide a monthly stipend which should be used to cover living costs. Participants from Switzerland and Brazil are invited to submit joint project proposals for research and development of innovative products and applications with a strong market potential in Switzerland and Brazil. The innovation project should be science-based, targeting to achieve advances in new solutions. The call is open for all scientific disciplines; however, projects in biotech, agriculture, clean energy & water, and sustainable cities and communities are particularly appreciated. The Swedish Institute Management Program (SIMP) Northern and Eastern Europe seeks ambitious and innovative leaders who want to learn more about sustainable business practices. The international leadership program offers proven tools and knowledge from experts with the goal to help participants to develop and implement an action-oriented sustainability strategy. The Swedish Institute covers the cost of training and content for all participants. Participants of the SIMP program will be selected from both businesses and organizations. The European Commission provides Consolidator Grants to experienced researchers with a scientific track record. ERC Grants support projects carried out by an individual researcher who can employ researchers of any nationality as team members. Applications can be made in any field of research. Proposed research projects under this program must be conducted in a public or private research organization located in one of the EU Member States or Associated Countries.
