The special self-help program of the U.S. Embassy to Uganda supports small, sustainable community-based initiatives that have an immediate and strong impact on the local community. The Embassy expects to support different types of projects: from development projects such as agricultural and aquacultural cooperatives to women’s empowerment and the environment. Grants typically range from US$1 thousand to US$10 thousand per project. All applicants must include a significant community contribution. The Embassy welcomes applications from Ugandan-based nonprofit organizations, community based organizations, and citizens. The closing date for applications is 14 April 2023. Self-Help Program

The Young One World Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 14 seeks solutions that could protect and/or restore existing ocean based resources. The challenge welcomes solutions from entrepreneurs with for-profit enterprises. The winner will receive a US$50 thousand project startup grant and 12-months of mentorship from Credit Suisse. The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA) aims to leverage knowledge on the Nexus management of Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems resources in the Mediterranean region. PRIMA seeks concepts and practical solutions that address the interdependency of food, water and energy securities by analyzing trade-offs and synergies between sectors and potential impact on social stability due to resource shortages and climate change. Projects can request up to €3.1 million for a period of 36 months. Companies/enterprises, non-profit organizations, NGOs, public research organizations, and universities from the following non-EU countries are eligible: Israel, Tunisia, Turkey, Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Morocco. PRIMA WEFE Nexus Award is assigned to research teams and practitioners that have devised and demonstrated the successful implementation of combined management practices of water, energy, food and ecosystem resources at the local or regional scale in the Mediterranean area. PRIMA will award two winners with €10 thousand each. The contestants for the prize must be a legal entity. The deadline for nominations is 22 March 2023. PRIMA Award

The Future Africa Challenge is a competition to explore the creative potentials of young Africans in Africa and the diaspora. The Challenge seeks projects or solutions of young innovators within 7 categories: Education, Technology, Entrepreneurship, Humanitarian, Agriculture, Advocacy and Movie. Applicants must be between the ages of 15-25 years. The winners of each category receive a cash grant of US$10 thousand. The application deadline is 31 March 2023. Future Africa Challenge

The UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for sustainable development recognizes the role of education in connecting the social, economic, cultural and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. The prize consists of three annual awards of US$50 thousand. Institutions, organizations or other entities engaged in education can be nominated. Nominations have to be submitted by 21 April 2023. The Ventures for Sustainability Fellowship Program is an 8-week long regional incubation virtual program that offers capacity building and provides hands-on experience with creating impactful small grass-root level projects in the South Asia region. Successful fellows are provided with different types of learning and training seminars. Applicants from the following South Asian countries can apply: Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The Youth Solutions Program provides young innovators with access to experts, training, and exposure to opportunities. You have an innovative solution that addresses one or more of the SDGs. The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network seeks early-stage startups that have a prototype and are actively testing with users or beneficiaries. Young entrepreneurs will benefit from a 6 week program that helps them to become investment ready. The application deadline is 10 February 2023. More

The Swedish Institute Management Program (SIMP) seeks responsible leadership and sustainable business practices. Applicants should be interested in topics such as business impact on the environment, diversity and inclusion in the workplace as well as financial strategies for sustainable development. Entrepreneurs between 25-45 years old from Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda or Zambia are invited to apply. The Swedish Institute Management Program (SIMP) Asia seeks ambitious and innovative leaders who want to learn more about sustainable business practices. The international leadership program offers proven tools and knowledge from experts with the goal to help participants to develop and implement an action-oriented sustainability strategy. The Swedish Institute covers the cost of training and content for all participants. Participants of the SIMP program will be selected from both businesses and organizations.
