The Business Partnership Facility (BPF) awards subsidies to support and develop private sector involvement in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in developing countries. Projects submitted under this call must contribute to achieving at least one clearly identified SDG. The BPF provides non-refundable grants between €50 thousand and €200 thousand that represent a maximum 50% of the total investment. Eligible countries include several from Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa (full list of eligible countries is provided in the call). Partnerships must comprise actors from the private sector, civil society, academia and/or the public sector, with at least one organization from the for-profit private sector. Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) offers an academic summer program for secondary school students from across Africa. The program offers online and in-person programs in four interdisciplinary sessions on Innovations in Science & Technology and Solving Global Challenges. Admitted participants will have access to pre-recorded videos before the start of the program and attend live sessions. There is no tuition cost to participate in the program. Leading House Africa seeks to promote research cooperation between Swiss and African PhD students of higher education institutions in seasonal schools. Leading House seeks Seasonal Schools in Switzerland to sponsor African participants for a PhD graduate program. Eligible applicants are organizers of seasonal schools (e.g. summer schools) in or outside of Switzerland affiliation to a Swiss Institution of Higher Education. The Development Related Infrastructure Investment Vehicle (DRIVE) is a program of Dutch support for infrastructural projects in the areas of water; climate; food security; and sexual and reproductive health and rights. The program offers funding support to entrepreneurs worldwide for construction projects in the eligible DRIVE subject areas and countries. Funding ranges from €5 million to €60 million. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a continuous basis. Link

The BBSRC Partnering Awards aim to set up partnership links between UK and overseas laboratories, promote the exchange of scientists, particularly early career scientists, and to promote access to facilities. Funding of up to £50 thousand is available for a period of up to four years for partnerships with Brazilian bioscience laboratories. International partnerships focusing on the net zero carbon emissions target, through a sustainable, resilient and bio-diverse agri-food system are especially welcome. WIDU.africa supports job creation in Africa by redirecting remittances from the African diaspora in Europe into micro and small businesses of relatives or friends in participating African countries. The WIDU Grant supports new and existing businesses with up to €2,500. Currently, WIDU offers local calls targeting green businesses in Kenya and Ethiopia to support enterprises interested in building a sustainable green future in their communities. Target sectors include renewable energy, agriculture, and reduction of waste. Applicants need to either have an existing small business or a concrete business idea. The Cacao for Peace Innovation Fund Grant Competition is designed to create and implement new student/faculty exchange and training programs in areas related to the cocoa value chain. Proposals must propose a research project focused on the cacao sector. The Innovation Fund intends to award up to eight grants of US$25 thousand. Higher education institutions in Colombia and the United States are eligible to apply. The deadline to apply is 31 January 2023. Link

The Olympus Microscopy Award recognizes the best in life science imaging worldwide. Olympus invites photographers and researchers worldwide to submit up to three microscopy photographs. Participants can win professional microscopy and photography equipment. One global winner and one regional winner from three world regions (Asia, Europe, Americas) will be selected. The SEED Starter Program offers workshops to guide young entrepreneurs from early stages of ideation to the generation of a viable business plan. SEED Starter invites applications from teams who develop green and inclusive business solutions to key social and environmental challenges in Thailand. Participation in the workshops is free, although participants need to cover their transportation costs and accommodation. All SEED Starter participants consist of a team of 2-5 members.
