The U.S. Department of State aims to reduce supply chain linked-deforestation by improving relevant data and information. The program “Data for Jurisdictional Sourcing: Spurring Jurisdictional Approaches and REDD+ Action” supports the development of technical capacity and systems for identifying, collecting, and managing relevant information and data necessary to avoid further deforestation on a global scale. Funding of US$715 thousand will be made available to be used to increase developing country participation in jurisdictional sourcing approaches. Proposals should include classroom instruction, field demonstrations, entrepreneurship projects, and leadership development. The Nuffic’s Orange Knowledge Programme aims to strengthen professionals and organisations through education and training. Proposed projects must contribute to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, promote sustainable agriculture, and ensure availability and sustainable management of water for all. Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) offers scholarships for PhD and Master studies. The scholarships are intended for graduate and postgraduate students from Southeast Asia who are regular employees of academic or research institutions or government agencies. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for funding for the development of food security activities in Ethiopia. USAID plans to award up to four cooperative agreements with the goal to improve food security of vulnerable households in targeted communities, contributing to a sustained reduction in rural poverty. The Mountain Innovation Program aims to improve the lives of mountain communities and protecting mountain environments around the world. The current opportunity calls for projects that focus on techniques to leverage resources and increase the resilience of mountain communities through the enhancement of agriculture-food value in Guatemala, Rwanda, Papua New Guinea, Lesotho, and Nepal. Only entities working with local civil society organizations and/or community-based organizations in priority countries are eligible to apply. NWO (Netherlands) and the Department of Biotechnology (India) call for scientific collaboration between The Netherlands and India that focus on Climate Smart Agriculture. Research institutes and other collaborations of organizations (both public and private) can apply for funding of joint research projects. Projects should focus on interdisciplinary research in order to develop application-oriented solutions for adaptation of agriculture to climate change. The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) offers scholarships for PhD studies in agriculture, natural resources, and related fields. Research funds do not to exceed US$4,500. SEARCA offers an optional 2-month internship. SEARCA prioritizes Southeast Asian nationals who are enrolled in PhD programs in a member university, however, the program is also open to applications who are regular staff members of government agencies or non-profit development-oriented institutions. Hivos, in collaboration with the Kenya Flower Council and the Uganda Flowers Exporters Association, seeks applications for the “Producer of the Year Award” (POYA) in horticulture. POYA is interested in organizations and farms that create better working conditions, and strengthen women worker rights and overall labor rights. The call is open to all horticultural farms in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Ethiopia. The winners will be honored during the International Flower Trade Expo (IFTEX), in Nairobi (June 2020). EIT Food seeks 3 organizations based in the Southern Europe (including Turkey) and 2 organizations based in the Eastern Europe to organize a capacity building program for women in agri-business. The aim of this program is to find innovative solutions that tackle the problems faced by women entrepreneurs, develop early-stage startups and create new female led agrifood businesses. The selected organization will receive funding of up to €21 thousand to cover the costs of the 3 startup events/workshops and additional activities.
