Phoenix Zoo — Funding for Wildlife Conservation and Science
The Phoenix Zoo (Arizona, USA) makes small grants to support wildlife conservation and science worldwide. Grants are limited to US$3 thousand for one year. Priority is for practical projects that help build capacity, and that involve local communities. The application period for pre-proposals is 01 November through 01 December each year. Link
William and Flora Hewlett Foundation — Grants for Climate and Energy
The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation makes grants to solve social and environmental problems in the USA and internationally. The Foundation’s grant making for its environmental sub-program in Climate and Energy makes grants to strengthen global climate policy. The Foundation also funds improvements in transportation to reduce air pollution — focusing on China, India, Europe, and the United States. Most of Hewlett’s grants are by invitation. However, the Foundation accepts letters of inquiry (LOIs) in certain programs — including Climate and Energy. LOIs can be submitted at any time. Link
EuroScience — Mobility Grant to attend the EuroScience Open Forum
The Nature Travel Grant Scheme offers journalists and members of media organisations from around the world the opportunity to attend EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) in Toulouse (France) in July 2018. The biennial forum is dedicated to scientific research and innovation from all sectors. The grant offers complimentary registration as well as help covering travel and accommodation costs. The Conservation Fund makes grants for wildlife conservation, research, and education. United States Government — Science Prize for Women
The 2018 ASEAN-U.S. Science Prize for Women seeks to identify and recognize ASEAN-based, early to mid-career women who are using applied sciences to solve agricultural challenges. The top two finalists will be invited to compete in a pitch competition during an ASEAN Ministerial event in the Philippines in October 2018. The overall winner will receive $20 thousand. UN Framework Convention on Climate Change — Training Program on Greenhouse Gases
UNFCCC-GIR-CASTT is a professional training on greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories to national experts from developing countries. The goal is to enhance the technical capacity of individuals and to improve the overall competency in reporting and in contributing to climate action. The four-week intensive training course will begin on 25 June and be held in Seoul (South Korea). Current government officials, consultants and researchers in the fields of greenhouse gas emissions, emission reductions, and climate change are encouraged to apply. Participants will be provided a return ticket from and to their home countries, as well as room and board for the duration of the training. Applications have to be sent by 7 May 2018. University of Cape Town — CSAG Winter School 2018
The Climate Systems Analysis Group (CSAG) at the University of Cape Town organizes a “winter school” intensive course, with the next one scheduled for five days in July 2018. The course is presented by facilitators from CSAG and other institutions to take participants through the full spectrum of topics related to climate and climate change, with an emphasis on issues in developing countries. Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs — Challenge to Reduce Post-Harvest Losses
The 2018 Food Connection Challenge invites SMEs from the agri/food sector in Nigeria and Benin to submit their innovative ideas to reduce post-harvest losses. Participants will benefit from workshops, training sessions, and remote coaching to turn their ideas into a business plan. The winner will receive matching funding up to a maximum of €20 thousand. Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation — Pitch AgriHack 2018
The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), with the support of the African Development Bank (AfDB) launches the Pitch AgriHack 2018. The theme for this year’s edition is “Women entrepreneurs innovate for agricultural transformation in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific”. The competition is open to both male and female founders and co-founders of e-agri startups offering digital services to the agricultural sector. Applicants must be aged between 18 to 35 years and need to be nationals and residents of African, Caribbean or Pacific countries. 50% of finalists will be women founders or co-founders of startups.
