Village Capital — Support for Social Entrepreneurs in Africa

Village Capital and the UK Department for International Development (DFID) Impact Programme seek applications for the VilCap Communities Africa program. The program is open to social entrepreneurs across sub-Saharan Africa who need tools, resources and connections to raise funds. To be eligible to apply, the applicant must address countrywide or regional problems, such as agriculture, environmental sustainability and others affecting those in poverty. US Department of State — Small Grants for Environmental Protection

The U.S. Department of State announces calls for proposals for its project entitled “Small Grants – Public Participation in Environmental Protection”. The project will be implemented in Chile, Colombia, Peru, Morocco, and Jordan. The purpose of this project is to increase civil society engagement in environmental protection and promote public participation in environmental decision-making. OES/EQT will award one cooperative agreement for up to US$500 thousand covering both Middle East and South America regions or two cooperative agreements for up to US$250 thousand each. Eligibility is limited to non-profit/NGOs subject to section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. tax code, foreign non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and public international organizations. XPRIZE — Design Competition to Solve Challenges

XPRIZE is a nonprofit organization that focuses on designing and implementing innovative competition models to solve the world’s grandest challenges. The organization seeks design concepts that can help solve a global need in one of five Grand Challenge Areas: (1) Off-Grid Energy Access, (2) Feeding the Next Billion, (3) Lifting Farmers out of Poverty; (4) Natural Disaster Prediction; and (5) Saving Coral Reefs. The designers of the best concepts receive mentoring to further refine their concepts and develop them into a project pitch. Participants will be eligible to win prizes up to US$100k in value. European Commission — Social Entrepreneurship in Jordan

The European Commission calls for projects that contribute to poverty reduction and social inclusion of people confined in the informal economy and disadvantaged/marginalised groups. The design of the proposed actions should aim at generating jobs and developing competitive and social enterprises in Jordan. (Note: This may include one or more categories of the Terra Viva Grants Directory). Under this call, grants of up to 2.2 million can be requested. European Commission — Zimbabwe Agricultural Growth Programme

The European Commission calls for concept notes for the Zimbabwe Agricultural Growth Programme (ZAGP). Proposed projects must contribute to the development of a diversified and efficient agriculture sector that promotes inclusive green economic growth. This call for proposals focuses on Animal Health and Food Safety Systems. The grant requested under this call must be between 3 and 3.6 million. UK Natural Environment Research Council — Peruvian Glacial Retreat

The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and Consejo Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Tecnológica, Perú (CONCYTEC), invite proposals for a new collaborative Research Programme on Peruvian glacial retreat and its impact on water security and resilience to natural hazards. Applicants can request up to £500 thousand for the UK component of a project and up to S/ 1.5 million for the Peruvian component. Projects can be a maximum of 34 months in duration. Samsung Engineering — Environmental Essay Competition

Samsung Engineering jointly with UN Environment launches the 11th Eco-generation Environmental Essay Competition inviting the youth all over the world to raise awareness on the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution”. The competitions aims to collect inspiring and creative ideas on how and why we should stop using plastics or reuse plastic products. Asian Women In Business – Scholarship for Female Entrepreneurs

The Asian Women In Business Scholarship (AWIB) encourages and promotes exceptional Asian female students and social entrepreneurs who have demonstrated leadership, community service and/or entrepreneurship. (Note: This may include one or more categories of the Terra Viva Grants directory.) Selected entrepreneurs will receive US$ 2,500. Eligibility extends to students of Asian or Pacific Islander ancestry who are enrolled full-time in an accredited 4-year undergraduate institution in the US and have permanent residency. Government of India — Training Courses in India

The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme invites international candidates from developing countries to apply for training courses scheduled during October-December in India. Topics for this period include courses in the themes of power, renewable & alternative energy; agriculture and rural development; environment & climate change; and others. The program covers transportation and visa costs, course fees, accommodation, and living and book allowances for course participants.
