The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers scholarships for master and doctorate students to expand their training in Germany. Eligibility extends to Costa Rican university professors (max. 38 years of age) graduated from the University of Costa Rica (UCR ), Technological Institute of Costa Rica (TEC), University National (UNA), or the Distance State University (UNED). The G. Unger Vetlesen Foundation makes grants for research and operational support in marine and ocean conservation, earth sciences, climate change, and wildlife management. Past grants range from US$25 thousand to US$700 thousand. Grants are to U.S. nonprofit organizations for projects ranging from local to international. Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture — PhD Research Scholarship
The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) offers scholarships for PhD studies in agriculture, natural resources, and related fields. Research funds do not to exceed US$4,500. SEARCA offers an optional 2-month internship. SEARCA prioritizes Southeast Asian nationals who are enrolled in PhD programs in a member university, however, the program is also open to applications who are regular staff members of government agencies or non-profit development-oriented institutions. Australia’s International Water Center provides funding for international students from the Indo-Pacific region. Scholarship recipients can to undertake full time undergraduate or postgraduate studies in Master of Integrated Water Management or Master of Catchment Science at participating Australian universities. The governments of India and South Korea invite joint research proposals under the India-South Korea Scientific and Technological Cooperation Program. Scientists and researchers are invited to submit proposals for joint research projects in the following areas: Green Mobility, Engineering Sciences, Materials Science & Technology, and Renewable Energy. The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a professional development exchange for community leaders from ASEAN countries in the fields of civic engagement, NGO management, economic empowerment, governance, legislative process, and environmental and natural resources management. The Program will bring at least 200 emerging leaders, ages 25-35, from Southeast Asia to the United States to participate in leadership and professional development activities. U.S. Department of State — Combating Wildlife Trafficking (Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines)
The U.S. Department of State aims to reduce the poaching and illegal trade of wildlife between Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The program will provide funding of up to US$1.6 million and include technical assistance to: 1) increase interdiction of trafficked wildlife; 2) build investigative and enforcement functions; and 3) develop cross-border regional cooperation. European Commission — Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme
The Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme is a joint program coordinated by the EC with the African Union Commission to increase the availability of qualified high-level professionals in Africa. The program enables post-graduate students, academics, and university staff to benefit from the experience gained in the context of mobility to another African country. Applications are invited from African higher education institutions, working in coordination with one EU technical partner.
