HCL Group — Global Freshwater Innovation Challenge

The Global Freshwater Innovation Challenge seeks  innovative solutions to conserve and restore freshwater ecosystems. HCL has committed $15 million over five years to support water focused entrepreneurs. The first year’s challenge will focus on water quality restoration and ecosystem resilience. Eligibility extends to impact-oriented start-ups with pilot projects, social enterprises with sustainable business models, and businesses ready to scale. The last date to apply is 08 November 2022. UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — Partnerships with Brazil

The BBSRC Partnering Awards aim to set up partnership links between UK and overseas laboratories, promote the exchange of scientists, particularly early career scientists, and to promote access to facilities. Funding of up to £50 thousand is available for a period of up to four years for partnerships with Brazilian bioscience laboratories. International partnerships focusing on the net zero carbon emissions target, through a sustainable, resilient and bio-diverse agri-food system are especially welcome. Trust for Sustainable Living — Schools Sustainability Challenge

The Trust for Sustainable Living (TSL) Schools Sustainability Challenge is a video contest for schools around the world. Schools are invited to create a short video (max. 1 minute) showcasing their best messages on ‘My Local Sustainability Challenges’. Schools have to register a Teacher Champion to participate. Save Our Seas Foundation — Ocean Storytelling Writing Grant

The Save Our Seas Foundation (SOS) Ocean Storytelling Writing Grant supports conservation storytellers. SOS is looking for writers who can tell conservation stories about the oceans, from the animals themselves, to fisheries, to the communities whose lives are intertwined with marine life. Story topics can range from the animals themselves, to fisheries to the communities whose lives are intertwined with marine life. Successful grantees will receive a paid assignment to cover a conservation story. SOS seeks to support early-career and emerging storytellers and aims to encourage new voices with new perspectives and writing approaches. The deadline to apply is 30 November 2022. Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit — Support to Micro and Small Enterprises

WIDU.africa supports job creation in Africa by redirecting remittances from the African diaspora in Europe into micro and small businesses of relatives or friends in participating African countries. The WIDU Grant supports new and existing businesses with up to €2,500. Currently, WIDU offers local calls targeting green businesses in Kenya and Ethiopia to support enterprises interested in building a sustainable green future in their communities. Target sectors include renewable energy, agriculture, and reduction of waste. Applicants need to either have an existing small business or a concrete business idea. Rockefeller Foundation & Acumen — Food Systems Fellowship

Acumen, with funding from the Rockefeller Foundation, invites students from all around the world to submit innovative solutions to tackle the greatest food systems challenges. The Rockefeller Foundation-Acumen Food Systems Fellowship is an intensive, one-year leadership development program for food systems leaders who are creating more inclusive, nourishing and regenerative food systems. Eligibility extends to individuals who demonstrate experience in building inclusive food systems. European Commission — Civil Society Organizations Development in Mexico

The European Commission seeks to contribute to green and inclusive economic growth in Mexico by strengthening the capacity of civil society to participate and influence reinforcing nature-based climate change adaptation measures. Project partners should prioritize the implementation and monitoring of public policies for adaptation to climate change, through measures based on coastal and maritime ecosystems. Applicants may request up to €1.8 million for their action plans. Eligibility extends to non-profit civil society organizations established in a Member State of the European Union or Mexico. 100,000 Strong in the Americas — Cacao for Peace Innovation Fund

The Cacao for Peace Innovation Fund Grant Competition is designed to create and implement new student/faculty exchange and training programs in areas related to the cocoa value chain. Proposals must propose a research project focused on the cacao sector. The Innovation Fund intends to award up to eight grants of US$25 thousand. Olympus — Global Life Science Light Microscopy Award

The Olympus Microscopy Award recognizes the best in life science imaging worldwide. Olympus invites photographers and researchers worldwide to submit up to three microscopy photographs. Participants can win professional microscopy and photography equipment. One global winner and one regional winner from three world regions (Asia, Europe, Americas) will be selected.
