Oak Spring Garden Foundation — Plant Science Research Fellowship

The Oak Spring Garden Foundation awards Fellowships in Spring Fellowship in Plant Science Research to one early-career plant scientist, with preference given to scientists working in organismal plant biology. The award includes a US$10 thousand individual grant and requires a 2 to 8 week stay at Oak Spring (USA). Applicants must be early-career scientists who have completed their undergraduate degree within the past ten years. The deadline for applications is 31 May 2023. Know more

Philip Henman Trust — Grants for Development Projects 2023

The Philip Henman Trust makes grants to UK-based development organizations, with few restrictions on thematic areas. It is important that the project provides a lasting beneficial impact for the people, communities or environment it seeks to help. Support is normally between £3 thousand and £5 thousand per year, with a maximum total of £25 thousand. The closing date for applications is 10 September 2023. Find details here

Explorers Club — Discovery Expedition Grants

The Explorers Club offers expedition grants to field researchers. Grants can be used to cover fieldwork in biological sciences, archaeology, anthropology, paleontology, earth sciences, ecology, and astronomy. Grants support researchers and explorers from around the world and generally range from US$25 thousand to US$40 thousand. (Note: Grant recipients must provide first right of refusal to cover their expedition, and will have access to Discovery Channel’s global audience through their digital and television programing.) World Resources Institute — Land Accelerator Brazil

The Land Accelerator is a training and mentorship program targeted specifically toward businesses that restore degraded forests, farmland, and pasture. The Land Accelerator Brazil specifically targets entrepreneurs whose businesses restore Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. Participants profit from mentorship and networking opportunities, technical training, and workshops. Five companies will receive financial support of up to R$50 thousand. DeserTech — Water in Rural Africa

DeserTech launches a challenge competition to bring water technology to rural villages in Africa. The winning technology will get a sponsored Proof of Concept (POC)  with Innovation:Africa. Innovation: Africa provides clean water to remote villages by drilling into the borehole and pumping water throughout rural areas. DeserTech is looking for off-grid, low-maintenance Israeli technologies that provide safe drinking water to villages. The winner will collaborate with Innovation: Africa in one country, with the potential for future implementations. The application deadline is 28 February 2023. Details

FSC Indigenous Foundation — Indigenous Fellowship Program

The FSC Indigenous Foundation (FSC-IF) accepts applications from Indigenous Peoples passionate about creating meaningful changes for their communities around the world. The topic areas of this fellowship opportunity are Environment/Climate Change, Land Rights, and Indigenous Economies. Fellows will be placed in FSC-IF’s offices in Panama City, Panama, or in IPARD´s partner organizations. Applicants may apply in English, Spanish, French, or Portuguese. Swedish Institute — Scholarships for South Africa

The Swedish Institute (SI) provides citizens of South Africa with fully-funded international scholarships for master’s studies in Sweden. The scholarship aims to develop future global leaders that will contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and contribute to a positive and sustainable development in South Africa. The scholarship is intended for full-time one-year or two-year master’s programs. SI fully covers tuition fees  and makes regular payments of SEK10 thousand to cover living expenses throughout the scholarship. The application portal will close on 28 February 2023. German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development — Agricultural Innovation for Climate Resilience Program

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) seeks scalable innovative solutions that support farmers and other agriculture stakeholders to build capabilities to mitigate effects of climate change on low- and middle-income countries. Selected teams will be invited to participate in a virtual WFP Innovation Bootcamp and receive up to US$150 thousand in funding. The geographical focus is Sub-Saharan Africa. Expo Live — Innovation Impact Grant Programme

Expo Live supports novel solutions that address pressing environmental and climate challenges. The program offers up to US$50 thousand in funding to support the growth of social enterprises, startups and grassroots projects from around the world that offer creative solutions to pressing challenges. The Grant Program is open to social entrepreneurs, SMEs, non-profit organizations, and government entities. Interested applicants should submit a pre-proposal by 01 March 2023. European Commission — Boosting Food Production in Rwanda

The European Commission (EC) aims to promote sustainable food production of socially and environmentally inclusive agriculture value chains targeting local markets in Rwanda. Applicants may request up to €700 thousand in project funding. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations established in the European Union or Rwanda. The deadline for submission of concept notes is 10 March 2023. More information
