The Azimuth World Foundation funds projects by grassroots Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities-led organizations aiming to improve access to health and to save water. The maximum grant amount is US$25 thousand. To be eligible for funding, organizations must have a USA tax-exempt status (501 (c)(3)) or a Fiscal Sponsor. Leading House Africa — Research Partnership Grant
Leading House Africa calls for applications from PhD students and postdoctoral researchers affiliated with a Swiss Institution of Higher Education to further develop and foster new collaborations between Swiss researchers and partners in Africa. Proposals from STEM fields, including biological sciences and medicine are accepted. The call will award a maximum of CHF 40 thousand per research collaboration project. Green Alley — Green Alley Award 2023
The Green Alley Award is an annual European prize for start-ups and entrepreneurs in the green economy. The award program focuses on business ideas that help build a circular economy and improve the waste and recycling industry. The contest finalists will be invited to Berlin to compete for a cash prize of €25 thousand, working space in Berlin for six months, and opportunities to raise additional funding. One Day’s Wages — Matching Grants
One Day’s Wages is a grassroots movement to alleviate extreme global poverty. Matching grants require partners to raise a portion of the grant funds, which are then matched by One Day’s Wages dollar for dollar. Matching grant requests from first-time partners is US$5,000 – US$30 thousand. Projects must fit within one or more of ODW’s focus areas, which include Climate Impact, and Water & Sanitation, among others. Applicants must be a registered non-governmental nonprofit organization. Partnership for Forests — Innovative Partnerships in Forestry
Partnership for Forests promotes partnerships among governments, civil society, and private enterprises to address deforestation and improve livelihoods by investing in forests and sustainable land use in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. The program provides a combination of grants and technical assistance to help selected partnerships move towards commercial scale-up. Grants normally range from £10 thousand to £1 million. Applicants should provide matched funding of at least 25%. Applications are welcome from private companies, cooperatives and trade associations, civil society and community-based organizations, NGOs, and research institutes. There is no deadline. InfoNile — University Science Communication Competition for Africa
InfoNile has organized a science communication competition that aims to engage university students in Africa to understand the critical role of conserving swamps and their biodiversity. The competition aims to foster environmental awareness and empower young scientists and conservationists in Africa to take action for swamps. Eligibility extends to teams of 2-3 university students, one from communication or journalism and a science student. The OCBC Sustainability Innovation Challenge aims to create value and positive changes to promote a sustainable energy transition. The Challenge welcomes startups that possess solutions that can be adapted to address one or more challenge statements. OCBC offers a prize pool of SGD150 thousand and winning teams stand a chance to pilot their solutions with TotalEnergies. EIT Climate-KIC, IDB Lab, and the Clean Technology Fund seek to advance climate innovation in Latin American and the Caribbean. Up to 25 organizations will receive tailored capacity building and knowledge transfer in specific areas around supporting climate innovations. Eligibility extends to innovation agencies, incubators, accelerators, ecosystem builders, venture capital investors, co-working spaces, and hubs that wish to initiate or deepen their involvement in fighting climate change by supporting start-ups focused on mitigating carbon emissions. The Agricultural Greater Good Initiative helps to identify measures that can increase crop yields and improve livestock welfare and productivity to alleviate poverty and hunger in the developing world.
