Young Social Entrepreneurs (YSE) Global is an eight-month program for young changemakers who wish to start or scale up their social enterprises in Singapore and beyond. Participants have access to online workshops, remote mentorship, regional learning and pitching sessions. Shortlisted teams have the chance to win S$20 thousand in funding to launch or scale their social enterprise. Eligibility extends to individuals aged between 18 to 35 years, with a viable and innovative business solution to a social issue anywhere in the world. The University of Rhode Island’s Metcalf Institute for Marine & Environmental Reporting accepts applications for its annual Science Immersion Workshop for Journalists. The workshop provides journalists with access to leading scientists and policymakers and a chance to gain a deeper understanding of science-based stories on natural, social, and engineering research guiding an equitable transition to clean energy. Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture — Professorial Chair Grants
SEARCA accepts nominations for regional professorial chair grants. The grant is open to Southeast Asian experts in the academic field of Agricultural Technology/Innovation or with outstanding contributions on policies related to Agripreneurship. These include, but are not limited to, agriculture, social sciences, marine and fishery sciences, environmental sciences, economics, and rural development-oriented fields. The awardee will receive a grant of US$5 thousand. Every two years, the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) awards nine prizes of US$10 thousand each to individual scientists who have been working and living in a developing country for at least 10 years. Free Press Unlimited — Climate Change Fellowship Program
Free Press Unlimited announces two Climate Change Fellowship Programs for journalists in the Middle East and North Africa. The Fellowship Programs will enable 20 fellows to tell a better climate story and inform their audience by creating stories that go beyond highlighting the problem and come with constructive solutions. The fellowship consists of training and individual coaching. All the fellows will receive financial support of €500. Eligible individuals must be journalists or a graduate in journalism operating in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Libya, Algeria, or Tunisia. The Kubota Fund announces a grant program for research analysts, trainees and students from developing countries who join academic or training programs provided by research/educational institutes or private enterprises located in Japan. The Fund provides financial aid (from ¥80 thousand to ¥100 thousand per month) to students, trainees, and researchers for pursuing academic degrees or research at educational or research institutes and business enterprises. Training or research on technologies for developing countries (especially civil engineering, electricity, machinery, agriculture, environment, energy, development economy) at companies or organizations in Japan is supported. Earth Journalism Network — Story Grants for Indigenous Environmental Journalists
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to Indigenous journalists to support the production of in-depth environmental stories that call attention to climate justice, biodiversity, sustainable ecosystems, and other issues related to the rights and well-being of Indigenous peoples and communities. ENJ expects to award between 8-9 grants with an average budget of US$1,400 each. Applicants must self-identify as Indigenous or belonging to a tribe. Applicants can be from any country in the world. International Development Research Centre — Climate-Smart Livestock Systems (Africa)
The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) makes grants to develop new climate-smart livestock technologies and business models to improve animal productivity, promote climate adaptation and lower emission intensity for smallholder livestock farmers in climatic hotspots in Africa. IDRC intends to provide grant funding for up to six research projects of up to a maximum of CA$1.5 million each for 36 months. U.S. African Development Foundation — Off-Grid Energy in Africa
The U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) requests proposals for the USADF Off-Grid Energy Challenge. Selected African off-grid energy companies will receive funding in the form of grant capital of up to US$250 thousand. To be considered for the Challenge, applicants must be 100% African-owned and -managed. Applicants must submit the completed application before 31 January 2024. Off-Grid Energy Africa
