World Academy of Sciences — Research Grants in Basic Sciences (Groups)

The TWAS Research Grants Program in Basic Sciences supports researchers in developing countries, particularly those that lack access to appropriate research facilities. Grants are awarded for research projects in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics either to individual young researchers or to research units. Research units can apply for up to US$54 thousand. Mastercard Foundation — Scholars Program at KNUST

The Mastercard Foundation provides economically disadvantaged young people in Ghana and Africa with access to university education. The Scholars Program at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (Ghana) provides financial support (tuition, accommodation, learning materials, transportation, and monthly stipend) for studies in all subject areas; however, there is a preference for science students (including agriculture and natural resources). OPEC Fund for International Development — Grants

The OPEC Fund provides financial assistance to developing countries, particularly low-income countries, in support of their economic and social development efforts. OPEC will consider requests for (i) grants for country-specific activities and projects; (ii) grants for special development initiatives of global or regional scope; and (iii) emergency aid. In the past, the OPEC Fund has financed projects in agriculture, energy, health, transportation, and water and sanitation sectors. The amount of the contribution will vary according to the scope and the nature of the proposed activity. However, except for emergency aid and small grants in amounts of up to US$100 thousand, OPEC’s contribution should not exceed 50% of the total cost. Eligible partners are any government or non-government entity, including co-financing partners, private sector entities, research entities, UN agencies, and international NGOs. There is no deadline. Inter-American Foundation — Grants for NGOs in Latin America and Caribbean

The Inter-American Foundation (IAF) makes grants to non-governmental and community-based organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean to raise the living conditions of disadvantaged populations, and to advance other social goals. The Foundation’s grant-making interests include grassroots projects in agriculture; clean water and sanitation; community conservation; and local management of natural resources (forests, fisheries, etc.). Applicants may request grants in the range of US$25 thousand to US$400 thousand. Applications can be submitted in Spanish, Portuguese, English, French, or Haitian Creole. OceanHub Africa supports African for-profit startups focused on preserving and restoring the health of the ocean. The 6-month acceleration program provides mentorship, services, software, fundraising support, and a network of leading ocean experts, mentors (entrepreneurs, investors, innovation experts, impact experts, scientists, lawyers, etc.), impact investors, and potential clients. Eligibility extends to for-profit start-ups operating in Africa and with a clear focus on ocean issues (e.g., climate change, pollution, or overexploitation). International Nature Image Festival — Biodiversity Short Films Contest

The International Nature Image Festival (FIIN) invites submissions of short films (duration 5-28 minutes) that promote biological natural heritage, natural regions, ecosystems, habitats, and species of wild fauna and flora. All formats including animations, documentaries, fiction, experimental films, and music videos are eligible. There are no regional restrictions for participation in the contest. BIMP-EAGA–Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund — Balanced Growth in Southeast Asia

The BKCF invites project proposals for its 5th grant cycle, aiming to promote inclusive and balanced growth in Southeast Asia and contribute to ASEAN Connectivity. Priority sectors include environment (e.g., climate mitigation and adaptation), tourism (e.g., ecotourism), connectivity (e.g., green transport), and agriculture and fisheries (e.g., food security). Eligible applicants are government agencies, public sector institutes, academic and research institutes, NGOs, private sector entities, or other autonomous institutes from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the Republic of Korea. Individuals are not eligible. Grants range from US$100 thousand to US$500 thousand for 1-year projects and US$200 thousand to US$500 thousand for 2-year projects, with a maximum of US$250 thousand per country for multi-country projects. UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science — Research Support

The UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP) invites innovative research proposals. The program seeks to advance rain enhancement science and technology, focusing on five key areas: enhanced seeding materials, rain enhancement systems, autonomous aerial systems, localized climate intervention, and advanced models, software, and data. Eligible applicants include domestic and international public or private, non-profit or for-profit organizations, and individuals. Proposals are evaluated based on scientific merit, project plan, team qualifications, resource availability, and capacity building. European Commission — Young Energy Ambassadors Program 2025

The Young Energy Ambassadors (YEA) program offers individuals aged 18 to 35 the opportunity to engage in EU energy policy making and promote a clean, fair energy transition. Ambassadors will participate in the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) from June 10-12, 2025, and contribute to the European Youth Energy Day. The year-long mandate includes mentorship, workshops, policy dialogues, and media features.
