The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) announces a call for applications for young professionals (under 35 years old) living in Asia for an online course on forest and landscape restoration. The online course includes teaching materials, access to expert commentary and guided exercises to support the development of ecologically, socially and economically realistic restoration plans. Shape-Sea — Essay Writing Competition for Undergraduate Students

Strengthening Human Rights and Peace Research and Education in ASEAN/Southeast Asia (SHAPE-SEA) hosts an essay writing competition for undergraduate students from Southeast Asia. Students are asked to write a paper on the right to a safe, clean, and sustainable environment and raise their voice on diverse issues and lived experiences reflecting the state of the environment and human rights in the region. Eligibility extends to Southeast Asian undergraduate students currently enrolled in a Southeast Asia tertiary academic institution. The winners receive small cash prizes. Conscious Food Systems Alliance — Conscious Food Incubator

The Conscious Food Systems Alliance (CoFSA) invites applications for the Conscious Food Incubator to support the experimentation of innovative approaches to transform food systems. The aim is to support people from across food and agriculture systems to cultivate the inner capacities that activate systemic change and regeneration. UNDP will fund four pilot interventions of up to US$20 thousand. There is no specific geographic focus or restriction on the location of beneficiaries or applicants. Samsung Engineering Eco-Generation announces the call for applications for the 31st Regional Youth Ambassadors Program. Eco-Generation is a social networking platform offering a range of possibilities for engaging children and young adults to advance their role and commitment in environmental conservation and protection. Youth aged between 13 and 24 qualify to become an ambassador and represent Tunza Eco-Generation. The Ambassador Program provides exceptional experiences with the opportunities to actively plan, to execute or participate in various environmental awareness programs around the world. Social Shifters — Global Climate Challenge

Social Shifters announces the Global Innovation Challenge to help young leaders and founders to solve the social or environmental issues that matter to them. The challenge seeks creative ideas, projects, and business solutions to the problems that matter to local communities and welcomes ideas from anywhere in the world. Participants compete for awards of up to US$10 thousand to deliver activities that improve lives, help communities, and protect the planet. African Plant Nutrition Institute — Plant Nutrition Outreach Fellowship

The African Plant Nutrition Institute (APNI) awards US$5,000 to African scientists to support education, training, and communication programs relevant to improving the use and efficiency of plant nutrients in African agro-ecosystems. Projects must focus on improved outreach or implementation of appropriate soil fertility management in agricultural systems. Eligibility extends to scientists, extension specialists or educators working at an African university, nonprofit organization, or in the private sector. Morris Animal Foundation — Wildlife First Award

The Morris Animal Foundation makes grants to assist early career researchers in establishing a successful research program. The maximum duration of a First Award is 24 months, and the total budget cannot exceed US$120 thousand. The applicant must have completed a PhD and have a permanent position in a university, accredited zoo or conservation organization, or other non-academic equivalent. Lemonaid & ChariTea Foundation — Sustainable Livelihoods

The Lemonaid & ChariTea Foundation supports entrepreneurial and income-generating initiatives that provide access to independent, self-determined and sustainable livelihoods. Funding is to local organizations that implement projects for positive change and economic independence in their communities. Amounts between €10-50 thousand per calendar year can be funded. ETH Zurich — Research Partnership Grants Asia

The Research Partnership Grants support research projects with collaborating institutions in China, Japan, South Korea, and ASEAN member states. Researchers may request a total of CHF25 thousand to conduct feasibility studies or pilot projects in order to apply for grants from larger funding agencies. The grant builds on existing collaborations between researchers and scientists affiliated to a Swiss institution. The call is open to all scientific disciplines and fields of research, including social sciences and humanities. ETH Zurich — Research & Seed Grants

ETH for Development (ETH4D) Seed Grants provide a small funding to explore new collaborations or  pilot new applied research projects in low- and lower-middle income countries. Research Challenges enable collaborations on project-​based research between ETH researchers, non-​academic partners and partners to develop effective solutions for poverty reduction.
