The Water for Women Fund aims to improve health, gender equality, and well-being of Asian and Pacific communities. Research organisations are invited to submit proposals for the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Research Awards. Applications must be submitted by research organisations or institutions (individual researchers are not eligible). Israeli Agency for International Development — Professional Course on Agribusiness
Israel’s Agency for International Development (MASHAV) offers professional short courses in Israel in subject areas that include agriculture, energy, health, education, and social development. MASHAV offers a limited number of scholarships to cover course fees, accommodation, medical insurance, and other expenses in Israel. The course “Agribusiness: A Tool for the Empowerment of Rural Women” addresses gender equality and the empowerment of women, as well as economic and social development strategies in rural areas. The course is for policymakers and professionals of the public and private sector, involved in the implementation of agricultural and rural development projects. Visionaria Network — Promoting Improved Cookstoves in East Africa
Visionaria Network welcomes applications for support from the Empowered Entrepreneur Training Fund (EETF). EETF partially subsidizes training to sell cookstoves and other energy products in East Africa. The EETF will train entrepreneurs and sales agents – particularly women – who sell or contribute to the value chain of improved cookstoves. The EETF will cover the costs up to US$5 thousand of certified trainers to lead the training, and 50% of the logistical costs of the training. The application deadline is 12 October 2017. Islamic Development Bank — Prize for Women’s Contribution to Development
The IDB Prize for Women’s Contribution to Development draws international attention to the vital role women play in developing their communities and the world. The theme for the 1439H – 2018 Prize is “Women’s Contribution to Promoting Peace and Stability.” (Note: This could possibly include thematic areas important in the Terra Viva Grants Directory.) The Prize consists of two cash awards: US$50 thousand for a woman or a group of women; and US$100 thousand for an organization. National Cheng Kung University — Gro Bruntland Awards 2018
Taiwan’s Cheng Kung University will host Gro Bruntland Week in in March 2018 to honor Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland, former Prime Minister of Norway and Director-General of the World Health Organization. Five young female scientists, one from Taiwan and four from developing countries, will be invited to present their research related to public health and sustainable development. Virginia Gildersleeve International Fund — Funding for Projects Led by Women 2018
VGIF provides grants up to US$7,500 for projects that are led by women, and that help empower women and girls in grassroots communities around the globe. Most grants are for one year. Past projects include examples in farming, kitchen gardens, water supply, and other aspects of sustaining local livelihoods. VGIF will accept letters of intent through 02 October 2017.
