The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers grants to journalists based in the Pacific Islands to report on critical issues related to climate change, biodiversity, pollution, and the illegal wildlife trade. Selected journalists will receive an average of US$ 1,500 in funding to cover travel and field reporting costs to produce of in-depth or investigative stories focused on environmental challenges in the region. French Embassy in Cameroon — Environment and Biodiversity Protection in Cameroon
The French Embassy in Cameroon provides support to the Cameroonian civil society organizations with the objective to foster sustainable development projects. Submitted projects should focus on environment and biodiversity protection, e.g. conservation of threatened species, fight against poaching, creation/development of a green industry, integration of indigenous and/or peripheral communities of Protected Areas, and the inclusion of women in environmental protection. (Note: Projects with focus on citizenship and human rights are also being accepted.) The required financing shall range between €10 thousand and €60 thousand for a maximum of 15 months. Fondation SUEZ — Biodiversity and Nature-based Solutions
Fondation SUEZ accepts applications for the Acting for Natural Assets program in search for “Biodiversity and nature-based solutions.” Applicants must demonstrate how their project addresses the issue of conserving biodiversity or restoring ecosystem service. The project is situated in France or the French overseas territories. SUEZ will donate a total amount of €100 thousand that will be divided up between three projects according to their needs. UK Royal Society — Grants for Scientific Meetings
The Royal Society hosts a program of scientific meetings each year with the aim to bring together scientists from around the world to present and discuss new research in all areas of science. Each meeting is organised by leaders in the field, using their expertise to ensure the key topics are covered. The Royal Society contributes to travel and expenses for the meeting and provides logistical support. Proposals are invited from any UK-based researcher. Ashoka — Act for Biodiversity Challenge
The “Act for Biodiversity Challenge,” supported by Vittel, seeks already-implemented solutions that engage people and organizations across sectors to preserve and restore biodiversity. Solutions can be designed for agriculture, urban environments, and forests. The applicants must be a nonprofit, for-profit, hybrid organization, or have a fiscal sponsor with an already implemented project beyond the idea stage (pilot projects are eligible). Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in the Tropical Andes (Capacity-Building Program)
The CEPF invites applications for small grants (maximum budget: US$49,950) in support of biodiversity conservation in the Tropical Andes. Civil society organizations are requested to submit Letters of Inquiry (LOI) to implement a capacity-building program for CEPF grantees and key stakeholder groups located in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. InterAction encourages photographers from all around the world to submit powerful photos that illustrate innovative, effective, and inspiring efforts in international relief and development. The US Embassy offers small grants for projects that strengthen ties between the United States and Slovenia. Eligible topics for projects are broadly defined and include energy security, entrepreneurship and business development (including women), youth engagement, and environmental preservation and sustainability. Projects may request funding of US$10 thousand to US$70 thousand. Only registered Slovenian NGOs (institutions of higher education and nonprofits) may apply. North American Banding Council — Training for Bird Banders in Latin America
The North American Banding Council (NABC) and Association of Field Ornithologists (AFO) invite applications for small grants that support the development and certification of Latin American and Caribbean bird banders. Grants can be made to groups organizing NABC-based certification sessions and/or NABC-based training sessions that culminate in a certification opportunity. European Commission — Defense of Environmental Rights in Peru
The European Commission aims to strengthen environmental protection and mitigation of climate change by protecting environmental human rights and their defenders. This call focuses on (1) Promoting the transition to a low carbon economy in the Peruvian Amazon; and (2) Improving compliance with Environmental Human Rights (DHA) for better environmental governance. Projects with focus on low-carbon transition can apply for funding of between €500 thousand and €805 thousand. Projects with focus on environmental human rights can apply for funding up to €382 thousand.
