Village Capital — Ecosystem Restoration

Village Capital supports 10-12 impact-driven startups building locally viable ecosystem restoration solutions in Africa. The program addresses entrepreneurs championing forest restoration, biodiversity conservation, wetland restoration and water conservation,  sustainable agriculture and climate tech solutions. Participants will receive mentorship and access to an investment analyst. Eligibility extends to (for-profit) startups building locally viable ecosystem restoration solutions. UNICEF — Venture Fund for Tech Solutions

The UNICEF Venture Fund makes up to US$100 thousand in equity-free investments to provide seed funding to for-profit start-ups developing frontier technology solutions that can positively impact the lives of the world’s most vulnerable children and youth. The fund supports technology solutions from different fields, as long as they benefit vulnerable populations, including but not limited to, agriculture, water, and energy. Banyan Tree Global Foundation — Greater Good Grants

Bayan Tree Global Foundation accepts applications for the “2024 Greater Good Grants,” which aim to impactful initiatives that benefit local communities and environments in Mexico, Cuba, Morocco, Islands in Eastern Africa and Southeast Asia. The main focus areas for projects include freshwater access, alternative livelihood development that protects the environment, management of food waste and humanitarian themes. Asia Foundation — Grants for Environment and Development

The Asia Foundation makes grants in a wide variety of program areas, including Environment. Thematic interests in ‘Environment’ include natural resource management and use; water resource management and transboundary water sharing; climate change adaptation and resilience; disaster preparedness and risk reduction; urban environmental issues; and women and the environment. The Foundation makes most of its grants to organizations based in the Asia-Pacific region. Letters of inquiry may be submitted at any time. Link

Charles Stewart Mott Foundation — Environmental Grant Making

The Mott Foundation funds grants in the United States and, on a limited geographic basis, internationally. The theme “Environment” supports projects around the world that protect communities and the ecosystems upon which they depend. The program “Transforming Development Finance” aims to guard against unwise capital investments in large-scale dams, extractive industries, and other major projects which threaten environmental sustainability and local economic opportunity in China, Latin America, and other regions of the developing world. The program “Advancing Climate Change Solutions” makes grants to reduce policy and financial barriers to investments in clean energy, and to provide technical assistance and networking opportunities to communities in the Amazon and Sub-Saharan Africa. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in the Philippines

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in the Philippines. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action projects focusing on adaptation and mitigation, water management, and other thematic priorities. The average contribution is C$30 thousand. Eligibility extends to not-for-profit local, national or community-based organizations. The deadline for submission is 28 April 2023. CFLI Philippines

Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Iraq

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Iraq. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action projects focusing on adaptation and mitigation, water management, and other thematic priorities. The average contribution is C$20 thousand to C$40 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to not-for-profit local, national or community-based organizations. IHE Delft Institute for Water Education — MSc Scholarship

IHE Delft provides scholarships to enroll in IHE Delft’s MSc in Water and Sustainable Development to early and mid-career water professionals from MENA, Sahel and Small Island Development States. The scholarship includes tuition fees, insurance, international travel cost and an allowance of €1,115 per month for the cost of living and accommodation. The deadline of application for admission and scholarship is 15 May 2023. IHE Delft Institute for Water Education — Water and Development Partnerships

The Water and Development Partnership Program supports transformations to ecologically sustainable water management practices. The Program launches a call for proposals open to applicants from non-European low-and middle-income countries. Ten projects with budgets up to €400 thousand will be selected. The call is open for projects that aim to redress issues related to inequities and ecological degradation in water-related developments. Submission of preliminary ideas closes on 22 May 2023. European Commission — Green Economy in Jordan

The European Commission (EC) seeks to contribute to the development of a green, environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive economy in Jordan. Funding is made available to projects that enhance coordination and sustainable resource management in the energy, water and agriculture sectors. Grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between €1.25 million and €2.5 million. Eligibility extends to businesses, academic institutions, and non-profit organizations.
