Climate Tracker — Scholarship for Journalists (Chile)

Climate Tracker offers a 3-month paid fellowship to environmental and climate journalists from Chile. Fellows are expected to cover Energy and Climate Change issues and publish at least two articles in national media. Selected fellows receive online training, mentorship and a US$150 stipend per month for the duration of their fellowship. Eligibility for this opportunity extends to young journalists (between the age of 18-35 years) living in Chile.The deadline for applications is 04 September 2020. Click here

EPIC-N — Workshop: Increasing Climate-Resilience and Sustainability

EPIC-N, in partnership with the UN Environment’s Global Adaptation Network and START, offer a learning workshop on increasing climate-resilience and sustainability in Asian countries. The workshop aims to strengthen capacities for adaptation and resilience by forming key partnerships between city officials and local universities. The learning process requires pairs of candidates (at least one person from a local university and at least one person from a local municipal/city government within the same area). World Wildlife Fund U.S. — Professional Development Grants

WWF-US offers Professional Development Grants (PDGs) to help mid-career conservationists pursue non-degree training to upgrade their knowledge and skills. These trainings can include short courses, certificate trainings, or conferences among other training opportunities. Mid-career conservation professionals from select WWF-US priority countries (listed in the announcement) must meet the eligibility criteria to be considered for a grant. Interdisciplinary Conservation Network — Workshop for Early-Career Researchers

The Interdisciplinary Conservation Network (ICN) is a bi-annual workshop that provides a select group of early-career researchers with the opportunity to produce a collaborative piece of research, take part in capacity building activities, and develop global networks with fellow researchers. The ICN 2020-21 workshop structure includes a series of virtual collaborative meetings (September 2020 to April 2021) and a 3-day in-person event (April 2021) in Oxford, UK. ICN will provide accommodation and meals for non-Oxford based attendees. Additionally, up to six total bursaries will be available to support travel expenses for international attendees. Eligibility extends to early-career researchers wanting to collaborate and network with others in conservation science. The application deadline is 12 August 2020. More information

Energy Generation — Africa Energy Generation Prize

The Africa Energy Generation Prize rewards young Africans who have an innovative  project or idea in the energy, health, or agribusiness sector. Winners will have the chance to enroll in a free 2-year training program at one of three Energy Generation Business Schools and receive capacity development training which will allow them to transform their innovative idea into a viable startup. Applicants must prepare and submit two videos: a presentation video of the candidate (2 minutes) and a video presenting the innovative project (5 minutes). African Water Resources Mobility Network — Master of Science/ Master of Technology

The African Water Resources Mobility Network (AWaRMN) invites applications for the Scholarship Mobility Program in Water Resources Management. Candidates can study full-time study in any of the Master of Science/ Master of Technology (MSc/MTech) academic mobility scholarship programs of AWaRMN in any of the Higher Education Institutions within the partnership (namely RU, UNIKIN, FUTMINNA, MU, and ENSH). AWaRMN funding will cover tuition fees, research cost, subsistence allowance, flight ticket and visa costs, and health insurance. Africa-China Reporting Project — Online Environmental Journalism Training Workshop

The Africa-China Reporting Project (ACRP)and China Dialogue invite African and Chinese journalists interested in environmental journalism to apply for an online environmental journalism training workshop. ACRP and China Dialogue aim to provide training and resources to support high quality journalism on Africa-China relations, particularly focused on African climate and environmental issues. U.S. Embassy Turkmenistan — Exchange Program for Biotechnology Experts

The U.S. Embassy announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to organize an exchange visit for 5 biotechnology experts from Turkmenistan to the United States for two to three weeks. The Turkmen experts will study the experience of US scientific and educational institutions in developing and applying biotechnologies and then adapt the new biotechnologies to Turkmenistan’s conditions. Awards may range from US$35 thousand to US$55 thousand. Eligibility extends to U.S. non-profit organizations and US educational institutions. Applications are due 21 August 2020. Link

Irish Department of Foreign Affairs — Fellows Program for South Africans

The Ireland Fellows Program offers selected students the opportunity to undertake a fully funded one-year master’s level program at a higher education institution (HEI) in Ireland. In 2021, fellowships will be offered for postgraduate study in agriculture, environmental science, conservation, rural development, food science, biotechnology, tourism, and many others. The Kader Asmal Fellowships covers tuition, economy travel, accommodation, books, and a monthly personal living allowance. Applicants must be resident nationals of South Africa. World Tourism Organization — SDGs Global Startup Competition

The UNWTO Sustainable Development Goals Global Startup Competition seeks innovative startups that directly contribute to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The competition features 17 categories, each one representing a Sustainable Development Goal. Startups from all over the world and all economic sectors are invited to participate. The winning startups receive a pitch at a UNWTO Demo Day, capacity and business development training, access to technological support, and connection to the UNWTO Innovation Network.
