The Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund offers scholarships to Indian nationals and nationals of other Asian countries for doctoral studies at universities in India. Areas of specialization include ecology and environment (among others). Scholarship applicants must already be admitted for a Ph.D. degree at a recognized institution of higher education in India. The Global LEAP Electric Pressure Cooker Competition recognizes manufacturers and distributors of electric pressure cookers that design energy efficient electric pressure cookers suitable for use in off-and weak-grid settings. Winners and finalists of the competition will be eligible for up to US$200 thousand prize money. The competition is open to companies in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Government of India — Cleaning the Ganga and Agri-Water
The Department of Science and Technology (DST) India and the Dutch Research Council (NWO) aim to contribute to cleaning the Ganga, with particular focus on the impact of agriculture on the Ganga water system. Proposed projects may focus on river basin system management and research, propose interventions to improve agricultural water management, or produce science-based recommendations for policies and regulations that contribute to increased water awareness. Proposals should furthermore be characterized by equal partnership and sustainable collaboration between the Indian and Dutch partners. Applications can be submitted by consortia that include research organizations, academic institutions, and/or public, semi-public or private organizations (for-profit or non-profit). Consortia can apply for a maximum of €700 thousand at NWO (Dutch research partners) and a maximum of Rs. 5.5 crores from DST (Indian research partners). The deadline for submissions is 12 May 2020. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) seeks journalists to attend a three-day marine science workshop in the Maldives (24-26 June 2020). U.S. Department of Agriculture — Borlaug Fellowships in Agricultural Science and Technology
The Borlaug Fellowship Program supports short-term research projects to improve agricultural productivity, economic development, and food security in over developing countries. The program offers training and collaborative opportunities for agricultural research, international agricultural economics, leadership, and policy. The program lists the eligible countries, and the research priorities for each of them. Fellows work one-on-one with a U.S. mentor who will coordinate the training program. After completion of the 6 months fellowship, the mentor will visit the fellow’s home institution to continue collaboration. USDA will select U.S. host institutions and mentors for each fellow. The Water and Energy for Food (WE4F) Prize seeks business owners and entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia with innovations in renewable energy and agriculture. The Prize includes a US$355 thousand cash prize for winners and runners-up, and sponsorship to participate in the Clean Asia Energy Forum in the Philippines (June 2020). The Prize is open to mid-stage businesses and youth innovators. To be eligible for the mid-stage prize, enterprises must have existing services or products. Swedish International Development Agency — Training Course: Sustainable Urban Water and Sanitation in South Asia
Sida funds short-term training in selected development topics for participants from developing countries. Organizations in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Lao, Myanmar, and Nepal are invited to nominate candidates for the Advanced International Training Programme ‘Sustainable Urban Water and Sanitation – Integrated Processes.’ Candidates representing government organisations, private companies, universities, or NGOs at national, regional or local level are encouraged to apply. The training will be provided in two parts: part 1 in Sweden, and part 2 in Nepal.
