European Energy Communities Facility — Support for Energy Communities

The European Energy Communities Facility offers emerging or evolving energy communities across 31 European countries a grant of €45 thousand to develop a solid business plan, along with access to a tailored capacity-building program and peer-to-peer exchanges. Eligible applicants are legally registered energy companies that are based in eligible countries (EU-27, Iceland, Moldova, North Macedonia, or Ukraine). World Bank — Africa Visiting Scholars Program

The AERC–World Bank Visiting Scholars Program invites researchers from Sub-Saharan Africa to apply for four to six-month research placements at the World Bank, where they will enhance their work on development-relevant topics. Up to three scholars will be selected and must submit an expression of interest by 01 September 2025. Link to AERC

Canon Collins — Postgraduate Study in South Africa in Climate Justice

The Canon Collins Trust seeks to support exceptional individuals who are committed to social justice in Southern Africa. In 2026, climate justice will be a priority. Climate Justice related scholarship applications may be in a science or applied science field as long as the application can demonstrate its relevance to climate justice-related matters. The value of the scholarship ranges from R20 thousand to R100 thousand. Applicants must be nationals of Namibia, South Africa, or Zimbabwe. The deadline for applications is 02 September 2025. Mesoamerican Reef Fund — Small Grants

The Mesoamerican Reef Fund (MAR Fund) announces its annual request for proposals with two available financial windows: Traditional Small Grants and Reef Rescue Initiative. Traditional Small Grants support Coastal and Marine resources management and protection in the Mesoamerican Reef (MAR). Reef Rescue Initiative supports and strengthens science-based restoration, repopulation, and rehabilitation of coral reefs in the MAR region. The proposals to be presented may have a duration of up to two years. Funding ranges from US$30 thousand to US$50 thousand. At least 25% of the total budget must come from other sources, as a match to the requested funds. All coral reefs within the MAR region are eligible. British Council — Environments Collaboration Grants

The British Council’s Research Environments Collaboration Grants support joint research initiatives between a UK lead institution and a partner institution in Brazil, Morocco, Pakistan, or Peru. Funding ranges from £25 thousand to £40 thousand per project to establish new or significantly enhance existing collaborations that strengthen research capacity and foster sustainable, long-term academic links. Projects run for 12 months, starting January 2026, and applications must be submitted by the UK lead institution by 09 September 2025. Know more

International Trade Centre — Youth Ecopreneurs

The Ye! Youth Ecopreneur Program welcomes young entrepreneurs to submit their green business initiatives. The program includes a global boot camp, and accelerator phase, and concludes with the celebrated Youth Ecopreneur Awards. The winner of the Youth Ecopreneur Award receives US$10 thousand in prize money. Applicants must be under the age of 35 and lead businesses that promote land restoration, sustainability, circularity, and/or the green economy. The application deadline is 14 September 2025. Ye! UNU Global AI Network — Global Youth AI Future Innovation Competition

The Global Youth AI Future Innovation Competition invites individuals, teams, organizations, and startups from around the world to submit AI-driven solutions focused on the theme “AI for the Environment: Ecological Sustainability and the Green Transition.” Applications are open for proposals that address one or more of four tracks: climate change adaptation; environmental protection and conservation; clean energy; and AI for less developed countries.The application deadline is 15 September 2025. European Union — Europe–Africa Partnerships

The Joint Innovation Facility provides funding of €100 thousand to €250 thousand to consortia led by African organizations from 14 target countries—including Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, and others. Eligible proposals must leverage digital technologies to scale climate‑focused innovations in areas like climate mitigation, adaptation, blue tech, smart cities, energy, or mobility. Society for Conservation Biology — Graduate Student Research Fellowship

The Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) supports graduate students whose research advances the science and practice of conserving biological diversity. The Fellowship Awards will support field work, including travel, materials or equipment required to conduct research. Students must demonstrate financial need toward completion of a graduate degree to receive US$1,000 in support of their research project. The deadline to submit your materials is 15 September 2025. African Union Commission — Africa Think Tank Platform

The Africa Think Tank Platform (ATTP) invites consortia of three to five legally registered African think tanks—with representation from at least two African sub‑regions—to submit proposals for multi‑year funding (~US $10 million per consortium over up to 2½ years). The call supports policy‑relevant, collaborative research addressing at least four of the six priority themes: (economic transformation and governance; climate change; regional trade; food security; human capital; digitalization.
