The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) awards research fellowships to international highly qualified PhD students and young postdoctoral researchers. Applicants should be non-Turkish citizens who are age 35 or younger. Preference is for candidates who have the potential to contribute to Turkey’s international cooperation in scientific and technological development. The fields of research collaboration include agricultural sciences, among others. The maximum length of the fellowship is 12 months. British Council — Africa-UK Trilateral Call
The National Research Foundation (NRF) and the British Council announce the Africa-UK Trilateral Call. The call aims to support African researchers to establish research excellence and collaboration between Africa-UK and a third African Country. Proposals are invited from eligible applicants for the DST-NRF/British Council Africa-UK Trilateral Chair. Proposals should focus on the following priorities: Food Security, Sustainable and Renewable Energy, Manufacturing for SMEs (including Agro-processing), Governance and conflict resolution related to development, and Cross-Cutting Themes. British Council — Newton-Mosharafa Science Innovation
The Newton-Mosharafa Fund supports British and Egyptian scientific researchers and innovators to find joint solutions to the challenges facing Egypt in economic development and social welfare through training and researcher mobility schemes. The five focus areas of the currently open call include sustainable water management, renewable energy, and sustainable food production; among two others. U.S. Department of State — Environmental Governance
The U.S. Department of State announces a funding opportunity for Environmental Governance. The purpose of this project is to improve environmental governance, particularly to address the challenges of air pollution, water, and waste management in Morocco, Jordan, Oman, Panama, Peru, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, and/or Honduras. Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data — Data for Development Projects 2018
The GPSDD seeks innovative proposals for data production, dissemination, and use. This year’s call is anchored around two themes: Scaling local data for impact and Fostering synergies between the communities. Smaller amounts of funding (starting at US$25 thousand) are made for riskier, unproven innovations at the pilot stage. The Global Challenges Research Fund invites applications to grow research capability in the UK to meet the challenges faced by developing countries. Examples of thematic areas include sustainable agriculture; clean air, water, and sanitation; renewable energy and materials; addressing environmental shocks and long-term environmental changes; and others. Investigators may request up to £3 million over two years. International Development Research Center — Fight against Antimicrobial Resistance in Livestock
The IDRC seeks research proposals that develop innovative veterinary solutions focused on product development to reduce therapeutic and prevent non-therapeutic antimicrobial (AMR) use by farmers in developing countries. Proposals need to demonstrate how the project will involve women in the research team and that they have considered the potential environmental impacts of their activities.
