The European Commission funds projects that explore new and sustainable aquatic and marine sources for human food with focus in under-used species and/or side streams from: (i) marine and aquatic sources; or (ii) the fisheries industry. Proposals for the cultivation of aquatic and/or marine biomass must include innovative and sustainable production and harvesting systems. The Commission will provide funding of up to a maximum of €16 million to address this specific challenge. The application has to be submitted as joint project proposal from at least three legal entities, each of which must be established in a different EU Member State or Horizon 2020 associated country. Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation — Partnerships for Global Sustainable Development
The “Swiss Programme for Research on Global lssues for Development” (r4d programme) promotes applied, need-based scientific research in developing countries. Projects that analyse, develop and test innovative solutions to sustainable development challenges in developing countries in any thematic area or field of research are eligible. The program will support consortia that consist of at least a Swiss research institution, a research partner in the Global South/East and a non-research implementation partner (government, civil society, private sector). U.S. Department of Agriculture — Donation of U.S. Agricultural Commodities
The Food for Progress (FFPr) Program provides for the donation of U.S. agricultural commodities to developing countries in support agricultural development activities. Priority areas under this call are: the Cacao Sector (Colombia), the Cashew Sector (West Africa), the Vanilla Spice Sector (Uganda), Sanitary and Phytosanitary Standards (Dominican Republic), and the Trade Facilitation Agreement (Bangladesh). USDA intends to make up to five awards ranging from US$15 million US$35 million each. U.S. Department of State — Support for Environmental Cooperation
The U.S. Department of State announces funding for logistics, meetings coordination, and digital communications to support environmental cooperation between all the U.S. Free Trade Agreement countries. Funding of up to US$197 thousand will be awarded to be used for logistics and meeting coordination support for in-person and virtual meetings, as well as digital communications to promote environmental cooperation programs. ENI CBC Med — Call for Capitalization Projects
The Mediterranean Sea Basin Program is a cross-border cooperation initiative implemented by the EU and neighboring coastal territories. The ENI CBC Med finances cooperation projects with focus on biodiversity conservation, climate change, and pollution for a more sustainable Mediterranean area. ENI CBC Med accepts applications for capitalization projects in the following priority areas: Water Management, Waste Treatment and Recycling, Renewable Energy, Integrated Coastal Zone Management. The program Scientific Exchanges is aimed at researchers who want to host their own scientific event in Switzerland; invite colleagues from abroad for a research visit to Switzerland; or visit their colleagues in another country. British Council — Newton Fund Institutional Links with Mexico
The Newton Institutional Links provides grants for research and innovation collaboration between the UK and Mexico. Subject areas for the collaborative research include local development challenges such as extreme weather conditions, access to affordable health care, food and energy security, among others. Proposals are submitted jointly by a principal investigator in the UK with a principal investigator in Mexico. Grants range from £50 thousand to £300 thousand over two years. European Union and the Government of India — India-EU Joint Call on Integrated Local Energy Systems
The EU-India Clean Energy and Climate Partnership seeks to strengthen international cooperation in renewable energy research and innovation. Proposals should develop and demonstrate novel energy solutions for higher energy efficiency. The project must be carried out by a consortium of at least three organizations from India and three entities from Europe. The U.S. Department of State aims to reduce supply chain linked-deforestation by improving relevant data and information. The program “Data for Jurisdictional Sourcing: Spurring Jurisdictional Approaches and REDD+ Action” supports the development of technical capacity and systems for identifying, collecting, and managing relevant information and data necessary to avoid further deforestation on a global scale. Funding of US$715 thousand will be made available to be used to increase developing country participation in jurisdictional sourcing approaches.
