World Academy of Sciences — Research Professorships in Least-Developed Countries

TWAS funds selected TWAS members to assist with building research capacity in the least-developed countries (LDCs). During a period of five years, each funded professor will be expected to make three visits to a host institution in a partner LDC, for a minimum stay of one month each visit. TWAS will provide travel support, while living expenses are covered by the host institution. Requests need to be submitted by research groups and scientific institutions in the LDCs. Swiss Network for International Studies — Call for Projects 2024

The Swiss Network for International Studies (SNIS) makes grants for pluri-disciplinary research on global issues that are relevant in the international arena, or that concern multiple countries simultaneously. SNIS accepts submissions from Swiss institutions of higher education and research (listed in the announcement). SNIS strongly encourages international collaboration. 100,000 Strong in the Americas — Climate Grant Competition for Colombia

The 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund, Alliance for Climate Action (100K CLIMA) competition invites higher education institutions from the United States and Colombia to create partnerships to submit proposals for consideration. The 100K CLIMA competition intends to award 11 grants of up to US$27 thousand each, and 5 grants of up to US$50 thousand each. The purpose of the competition is to provide funding to support innovative partnerships between HEIs that will result in inclusive, climate-focused, student/faculty exchange and training programs. Lighthouse Foundation — Coastal and Marine Conservation

The Lighthouse Foundation promotes science and research, teaching, culture, and the principles of environmentalism and international development in relation to the world’s seas and oceans. Funded partners of the Lighthouse Foundation are conservation NGOs, community NGOs, universities and educational organizations, and government organizations. There is no application form. Link

COP28 Presidency — Energy Transition Changemakers

The COP28 Presidency seeks projects that offer game-changing innovative solutions or approaches accelerating the just energy transition. Companies and organizations from all over the world are welcome to apply. The top projects will have the opportunity to present their work to an audience in separate sessions during COP28 UAE at Expo City Dubai. The deadline to apply is 09 October 2023. International Fund for Agricultural Development — Grants to Improve Resilience and Food Security

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will finance the implementation of a project on “Innovative regenerative agriculture approaches to improve resilience and food security”. The goal is to contribute to more productive and nutritious climate resilient and sustainable agricultural production through the application of regenerative agriculture techniques. The overall grant is US$500 thousand. (Note: The recipient’s contribution must be at least 25% for private sector applicants.) Deadline for submission is 13 October 2023. Link to IFAD

HCLTech — Climate Action Grant

HCLTech launches the Climate Action Grant to provide grants to non-governmental organizations combating climate change and restoring ecosystems and biodiversity across the Americas. HCLTech accepts proposals for climate action in focus areas such as wildlife and biodiversity conservation; land and ocean action; clean energy; climate advocacy; campaigns; and climate risk reduction. Zendesk — Tech for Good Impact Awards

The Zendesk Tech for Good Impact Awards provides free software and multiple grants ranging from US$5 thousand to US$50 thousand to global nonprofit organizations. Impact Awards are made to products that promote resilience, foster community, and increase access to careers in technology in areas that range from refugee rights to environmental justice. SVG Ventures — Global Accelerator for Agrifood Tech Startups

Silicon Valley Global Ventures is an investment, technology and advisory firm that invests in companies that go through their accelerator program. The THRIVE Global Impact Challenge seeks innovative startups who are advancing a more sustainable future for agriculture. Selected companies benefit from an accelerator program that provides investment, mentorship and direct access to agriculture companies and farmers. The application deadline is 10 November 2023. Private Enterprise Development in Low-Income Countries — Major Research Grant Development Finance

The Private Enterprise Development in Low-Income Countries (PEDL) Program invites expressions of interest for Major Research Grant projects on the role of development finance in stimulating private sector development, as well as projects related to climate change and environmental compliance. Major Research Grants are grants of £100 thousand or more. There is no formal upper limit, but past MRGs have averaged around £300 thousand. These grants will fund research assistance, data collection and new surveys in Africa and South Asia. EOIs must be submitted by 15 November 2023. Link to Major Research Grants
