European Commission — Agri-Enterprise Program Bangsamoro

The European Commission (EC) seeks to support the development of agri-fisheries in Bangsamoro. Proposals should address locally integrated agri-fishery systems and market driven value chain developments through a multi-annual action plan, be environmentally sustainable and focus on the  use of agro-ecological farming techniques. Grants requested under this call for proposals must fall between €1,5 million and €3 million. Eligibility extends to non-governmental organizations, private or public sector operators, local authorities, and international organizations established in a Member State of the European Union. Commonwealth Secretariat — Commonwealth Youth Awards 2023

The Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Work recognize individuals ages 15 to 29 who lead innovative development projects in themes that include agriculture, small enterprise, skills training, climate change, environmental protection, sustainable livelihoods, and poverty reduction. The program selects regional winners from each of Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. Winners are awarded grants of up to a total of £5 thousand in total to advance their projects. Fondation Segré — Research Support Grants

Fondation Segré supports on-the-ground conservation actions with the goal of improving the status of threatened animal species (terrestrial, freshwater and marine) and their habitats across Asia, the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, and the Middle East. Research Support Grants have a maximum grant size of €5 thousand to support young and early scientists in their research to improve knowledge on threatened species and their role in natural ecosystems. Projects must focus on Lizards, Snakes, or Worm Lizards. Eligibility extends to local or national non-profit organizations. Applicants can submit applications in English or French. Alexander von Humboldt Foundation — Georg Forster Research Award

The Georg Forster Research Award supports the work of accomplished researchers who are expected to continue to develop research-based solutions to specific challenges facing transition and developing countries. Nominees must be nationals of a developing or transition country, excluding the People’s Republic of China and India. The award amount is €60 thousand. Additionally, award winners are invited to conduct a research project of their own choosing in Germany in close collaboration with a specialist colleague. To support the collaboration, the Foundation may grant additional funding of up to €25 thousand. Nominations for the Award must be submitted by an established academic employed by a university or research institution in Germany. The closing date for nominations is 31 October 2022. Find out more

Government of India — ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship

The ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship (AI-RTF) aims to promote cooperation in science, technology and innovation through joint research activities in environmental management, climate change adaptation, agricultural technologies, alternative energy, biodiversity, biotechnology, and others. The Fellowship provides ASEAN young researchers with the opportunity to work at an Indian research/academic institution. The duration of the Fellowship will be for a period of 2-6 months. Fellows receive full financial assistance, including international travel, accommodation, meals, and a one-time grant of up to INR 40 thousand for research expenses. PEMSEA — Youth and the Oceans Video Competition

The Youth and the Oceans video competition aims to showcase the understanding the youth have of their oceans. The videos can have any subject associated with the theme Coastal communities, life with the ocean. It should be a 3 to 5-minute video, created entirely from material filmed/created by youth. The competition is open to high school students, university students, and amateurs up to 30 years old. Entry must be an original video filmed in one of the following East Asian countries: Brunei, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, DPR Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, RO Korea, Singapore, Timor-Leste, Thailand, or Vietnam. King Boudouin Foundation — Research on Water Availability

The Ernest du Bois Prize offers €20 thousand for doctoral studies on the theme of water availability. The awards are made to young students and engineers in Belgium who are carrying out research on the theme of water and its availability — including issues of protecting reserves, managing pollution, developing processing techniques, and others. Applications need to be submitted in French or Dutch, even though the doctoral research itself may be written in English. The application deadline is 18 October 2022. Ernest du Bois Prize

Natural Resources Defense Council — Climate Storytelling Fellowship

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and partners invite applications to the NRDC Climate Storytelling Fellowship. The Fellowship will grant US$20 thousand to three writers to support revision of a feature screenplay or pilot that engages with climate change in a meaningful way. In addition, each fellowship recipient will receive professional feedback and guidance on their scripts. The first 400 writers that opt in with a qualified screenplay or pilot will receive one free month of hosting and one free evaluation. Fee Waivers must be requested no later than 23 October 2022. Rolex Awards — Rolex Awards for Enterprise 2023

The Rolex Awards invest in people seeking solutions to humankind’s most pressing challenges and support entrepreneurs anywhere in the world who have ground-breaking proposals or initiatives that will help improve the quality of life on the planet. Applications can be submitted in five categories: science and health, applied technology, exploration, cultural heritage, and the environment. Projects should be planned for the future, or completed only partially. Each winner will receive CHF 200 thousand in order to help her/him with project implementation. United States Agency for International Development — Environmental and Economic Reactivation Partnerships

The Ecuador New Environmental and Economic Reactivation Partnerships Initiative is designed to increase seascape conservation, combat illegal fishing, reduce ocean plastic pollution, achieve sustainable forests management, and support forest carbon sequestration and economic reactivation. USAID/Ecuador seeks implementing partners from the private sector and civil society. This includes private businesses, foundations, non-profit NGOs, and private educational institutions.
