Zoological Society of London — Protected and Conserved Area Fund

The EDGE Protected and Conserved Area Fund supports projects with a clear focus on creating new protected or conserved areas or the expansion of existing protected or conserved areas. Projects should focus on creating a new protected area or the expansion of existing protected areas. Projects should have endorsement from local communities. Applications are due by 08 May 2023. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Iraq

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Iraq. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action projects focusing on adaptation and mitigation, water management, and other thematic priorities. The average contribution is C$20 thousand to C$40 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to not-for-profit local, national or community-based organizations. IHE Delft Institute for Water Education — Water and Development Partnerships

The Water and Development Partnership Program supports transformations to ecologically sustainable water management practices. The Program launches a call for proposals open to applicants from non-European low-and middle-income countries. Ten projects with budgets up to €400 thousand will be selected. The call is open for projects that aim to redress issues related to inequities and ecological degradation in water-related developments. Submission of preliminary ideas closes on 22 May 2023. Canadian International Development Research Center — Climate Emergency

The Canadian International Development Research Center (IDRC) seeks concept notes to support new research that responds to the intersection of two global challenges of the climate emergency and closing civic spaces in the Global South. Funding of up to CA$950 thousand is available. Applications can be submitted in Spanish, English, French or Portuguese. Interested applicants are invited to submit concept notes by 26 May 2023. European Commission — Green Economy in Jordan

The European Commission (EC) seeks to contribute to the development of a green, environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive economy in Jordan. Funding is made available to projects that enhance coordination and sustainable resource management in the energy, water and agriculture sectors. Grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between €1.25 million and €2.5 million. Eligibility extends to businesses, academic institutions, and non-profit organizations. Earthwatch — Support for Field-Based Research Projects 2025

Earthwatch supports scientific field projects in topics of ecosystems and biodiversity in several world regions. Applicants to lead these field projects must have a PhD and can be of any nationality. Earthwatch invites projects that have a strong rationale for using non-specialists (volunteers) to aid with data collection, scientific observation, or other research tasks. Annual budgets range between US$20 thousand to US$80 thousand. Program themes include among others collaborative ecological research; ecological restoration; global conservation priorities; ocean ecosystems; and sustainable agriculture and forestry. U.S. Mission to Angola — Self-Help Program

The special self-help program of the U.S. Embassy to Angola supports small, sustainable community-based initiatives that have an immediate and strong impact on the local community. The Embassy expects to support different types of projects: from development projects such as agricultural and aquacultural cooperatives to women’s empowerment and the environment. Grants typically range from US$2.5 thousand to US$10 thousand per project. All applicants must include a significant community contribution. Google — Environmental Journalism and Science Communication

The Sustainability Laboratory supports journalism and local content creators who work in the coverage of environmental issues and science communication. The program offers training to organizations and communication professionals in Brazil specialized in the coverage of environmental topics. The program will select 20 organizations from all regions of the country to participate in training and workshops. Eligibility extends to professional news organizations located in Brazil. Association of Southeast Asian Nations — ASEAN Prize 2023

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) invites nominations for the ASEAN Prize 2023. The prize acknowledges ASEAN citizens or ASEAN-based organizations that have made outstanding contributions to ASEAN’s community building efforts. The winner receives a trophy and a cash prize of US$20 thousand. All nominations must be submitted to the respective ASEAN National Focal Points by 28 April 2023. ASEAN Prize 2023

AFR100 Initiative — Restoring African Landscapes

The AFR100 Initiative seeks to show that restoration can create a prosperous, net-zero-emissions future for Africa. Therefore, the initiative will finance 100 non-profit community organizations and for-profit businesses that are restoring land by planting and growing trees in rural and urban landscapes. Early-stage for-profit businesses or non-profit organizations can apply for US$50 thousand to US$150 thousand. Growth stage organizations can apply for US$250 thousand to US$500 thousand.
