Zuckerberg Institute for Water Research — Water Prize

The Zuckerberg Institute for Water Research (ZIWR) offers a biannual award to acknowledge the outstanding achievements and global impact of an individual or organization in the broader field of water. The Executive Committee welcomes the nomination of candidates researching, developing or implementing impactful and lasting water solutions. The award consists of US$60 thousand. BirdsCaribbean — Research and Conservation of Caribbean Birds

BirdsCaribbean invites applications for its grants programs. The James A. Kushlan Research and Conservation Fund provides support on an annual basis for biological, ecological, and conservation research on waterbirds in the Caribbean region. The Betty Petersen Conservation Fund seeks to advance the conservation status of birds and habitats in the Caribbean region through projects that engage and empower communities and stakeholders to protect and benefit sustainably from their birds. David S. Lee Fund for the Conservation of Caribbean Birds supports applied and innovative projects with direct conservation effects on  Caribbean birds and/or their habitats. Awards range from US$2,500 to US$5,000. Grants will be awarded to anyone (individuals or organizations). Applicants from the Caribbean will be given consideration over other nationalities. ProVeg International — Grants

ProVeg Grants provides funding to diet-change organizations and projects that align with ProVeg‘s mission to reduce the global consumption of animals by 50%. The ProVeg Grants program offers expertise and support to organizations. ProVeg provides both financial support and assistance with capacity-building. Financial support is between US$5,000 and US$50 thousand per year. Applicants must be individuals or organizations focused on food-system transformation. Van Tienhoven Foundation — Small Grants for Biodiversity Conservation

The Van Tienhoven Foundation for International Nature Protection promotes the protection, conservation, and sustainable use of ecosystems and their living organisms. The Foundation aims to counter the human-induced causes of threats to biodiversity. Only Asian and Latin American countries on the DAC list will be eligible. Non-profit organizations are eligible to apply. Government organizations, companies, or individuals are not supported. The maximum grant is €10 thousand. Embassy of Japan — Grants for Grassroots Projects in Uganda

The Embassy of Japan in Uganda provides financial assistance to non-profit, development-oriented organizations in support of community development projects in Uganda. Any projects geared towards grassroots assistance are eligible for financing, including water and sanitation, disaster relief, and agricultural development. The grant amount per project is generally under 10 million yen (approx. US$100 thousand). Potential recipients are international or local NGOs, community-based organizations, educational institutions, and local governments. The Embassy receives concept papers anytime throughout the year, but the selection process is conducted twice a year with deadlines on 15 February and 31 July. More about this opportunity

National Fish and Wildlife Foundation — Atlantic Flyway Shorebirds 2025

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) and partners support the conservation of migratory waterbirds and their habitats through strategic investments to secure populations of three species – American oystercatcher (short distance migrant), whimbrel (mid-distance migrant) and threatened red knot (long-distance migrant). The program focuses on priority shorebird sites along the U.S. Atlantic seaboard (including the Florida Gulf Coast and panhandle) as well as priority wintering sites for each of the focal species in the Caribbean and South America. The award size is not specified, but the majority of awards will fall in the US$75 thousand to US$250 thousand range. AGCO Agriculture Foundation — Quality Education, Research and Innovation in Agriculture

The AGCO Agriculture Foundation (AAF) seeks proposals from non-profit organizations and public universities/educational institutions around the world. AAF considers proposals that increase the capacity of farmers, farming communities, young people and/or women, and facilitates access to the tools, training, activities, and support. Grants between US$200 thousand and US$450 thousand are available. Only non-profits and public universities/educational institutions with innovative solutions targeted at increasing the capacity of farmers are eligible to apply for grant funding. Earthshot Prize — Nominations 2025

The Earthshot Prize searches the globe for game-changing innovations that will help repair our planet. The best five solutions receive £1 million to scale their work. The categories are: Protect and Restore Nature; Clean our Air; Revive our Oceans; Build a Waste-Free World; and Fix our Climate. The Earthshot Prize has a network of official nominators. Some nominators are happy to accept proposals from the public for consideration. Nominations for the 2025 prize year will close on 11 December 2024. View Official Nominators

World Food Programme — Iraq Innovation Challenge

The World Food Programme (WFP) invites innovators, entrepreneurs, and organizations from Iraq to contribute solutions to strengthen the capacities of local communities to adapt to climate change and improve livelihood opportunities. WFP will provide comprehensive support to selected teams, facilitating the development and scaling of the most promising solutions. Selected innovation team will be eligible to receive up to US$25 thousand in equity-free funding. Eligibility extends to for-profit, not-for-profit, social enterprises. Catalytic Climate Finance Facility — Climate Finance

The Catalytic Climate Finance Facility (CC Facility) supports blended finance structures targeting climate action in developing economies. The program provides technical assistance and working capital to accelerate the scaling and deployment of market-ready finance vehicles that target climate change mitigation and/or adaptation. The CC Facility offers grant funding of up to US$500 thousand. Applicants do not need to be domiciled in a developing country but end beneficiaries and target activities must.
