The U.S. Department of State seeks to build civilian law enforcement capabilities to combat wildlife crime in South Asia. The aim is to strengthen legislative and regulatory frameworks; build investigative and enforcement capacity; and enhance prosecutorial and judicial capacity. The focus countries are Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. Eligibility for funding extends to nonprofit NGOs and educational institutions in the USA and other countries, including consortia of local and non-local organizations. Monarch Butterfly Fund — Monarch Butterfly Migration Challenge
The Monarch Butterfly Fund (MBF) launches an international competition to find a tracking technology that can deliver important scientific insights. The fund offers a $50 thousand cash prize to the individual or team that can conceptualize and develop an innovative tagging and tracking system that can be easily implemented in current conservation and scientific research, allowing individual monarchs to be tracked during the migration. FIRE Africa — Women Empowerment and Community Networks
The FIRE Africa Grants support new projects from organisations led by female entrepreneurs focusing on practical solution(s) that use technology to address specific challenges faced by women and girls. Selected projects will receive up to US$15 thousand and benefit from a series of institutional strengthening and capacity building activities aimed at providing the knowledge, tools and contacts needed to further advance successful initiatives. The European Commission supports civil society organizations and local authorities in Gabon and in São Tomé and Príncipe in the conduct of good governance and sustainable development. European Commission — Interreg Atlantic Area, 2nd Call for Proposals
Interreg Atlantic Area supports transnational cooperation projects in 36 Atlantic regions to achieve economic, social and territorial cohesion by implementing solutions to answer to regional challenges in the fields of innovation, resource efficiency, environment and cultural assets. The second call for proposals is open to projects focused on delivering transnational, tangible and sustainable results and territorial and economic impact across the Atlantic Area. There is no pre-established lower or upper limit to project budgets. Project partners must be located within the eligible territory of the Atlantic Area regions, but if the benefit for regions in the cooperation area is clearly demonstrated, organisations based outside the EU may join project partnerships of the Programme. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Evaluation of Pilot Long-term Vision Exercises
The CEPF seeks applications from civil society organizations to submit proposals to conduct an evaluation of three pilot long-term vision exercises for (1) the Balkans sub-region; (2) the Indo-Burma Hotspot; and (3) the Albertine Rift and Eastern Arc Mountains sub-region. The objective of the evaluation is to inform the scope of work for future long-term vision exercises. The evaluation must be conducted during April 2018.
