Global Affairs Canada — Agri-Food Value Chains and Adaptation to Climate Change in Haiti
The Government of Canada calls for proposals to promote strengthened agri-food value chains and adaptation to climate change in Haiti. Areas that were severely affected by Hurricane Matthew require increased support to restore agricultural production capacity and infrastructure. Projects should focus on two or three of the departments of Artibonite, Sud, and Grand-Anse. Eligibility for funding extends to Canadian and non-Canadian organizations, including private-sector organizations. Grants will range from $3 million to $15 million. KR Foundation — Reducing Fossil Fuels
The KR Foundation makes grants for environmental communications and advocacy, with a special focus on reducing investment and consumption of fossil fuels. The Foundation aims to persuade investors to divest from fossil fuel industries that deepen the climate crisis, and to invest instead in climate solutions. In parallel with divest-invest, the KR Foundation supports measures that eliminate subsidies for fossil fuels. Grants are to charitable nonprofit organizations. The amount of funding per project typically ranges from DKK 0.5 million to DKK 5 million for projects of up to approximately three years. The next deadline for letters of inquiry is 19 January 2017. HDH Wills Charitable Trust — Conservation of Wildlife and the Environment
The HDH Wills Trust offers grants to charities in England and Wales dedicated to the conservation of wildlife and the environment. Grants from £2 thousand to £25 thousand (in some cases, up to £50 thousand) are available to charities registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales, or which are exempt or excepted charities. Past grants include several to UK organizations with conservation programs or projects in the developing world. The closing date for applications is 31 October 2017. Link
Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in Timor-Leste
In support of conservation in the Wallacea Biodiversity Hotspot, CEPF invites letters of inquiry from organizations wishing to work in or affect key biodiversity areas and species in Timor-Leste. Eligibility for funding extends to NGOs, community groups, private enterprises, universities, and other civil society organizations. Typical grants are US$100 thousand for periods of 12 to 30 months, although CEPF will consider proposals up to US$300 thousand for exceptionally qualified applicants. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Africa Program 2017
The program “Wildlife Without Borders” includes a regional component for Central Africa. Funding in 2017 will focus on projects that impact wildlife populations in the following countries: Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Congo, Dem Rep Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Rwanda, and São Tomé and Príncipe. The announcement defines the priority themes. Applications are open to qualified individuals; multi-national secretariats; institutions of higher education; and nonprofit NGOs. European Commission — Sustainable Energy in the Philippines
The EC will make grants to increase the availability of electricity generated from renewable energy in off-grid rural and semi-urban communities of the Philippines. The grants will be made in four lots, each with a different objective. Grants are up to €4 million, varying by lots and cost shares. The lead applicants should be NGOs, private or public utility operators, international organizations, foundations, electric cooperatives, or academic institutions in the EU, the Philippines, or other countries eligible under Europe’s DCI regulation. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity in Eastern and Southern Africa
On behalf of the CEPF, Birdlife International announces the 16th and final call for proposals supporting biodiversity conservation in the Eastern Afromontane Hotspot. The eligible countries are Dem Rep Congo, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. The maximum grant is US$20 thousand. Applications need to be submitted by 23 November 2016. Pesticide Action Network (PAN) Africa — Small Grants for Organizations in Africa
PAN is an advisor to the Global Greengrants Fund (GGF) for grants to civil society in subjects of environment and sustainable development. PAN Africa invites African organizations to submit short proposals that may qualify for GGF support. Themes important to PAN include phasing out highly hazardous pesticides; alternatives to pesticides and DDT; monitoring the effect of pesticides on human health and environment; and opposition to GMOs. Proposals should include project objectives, methodology, expected results, and an activities budget. The requested contribution should not exceed US$3,500. Proposals must be sent to PAN by e-mail no later than 25 November 2016. Link

The Governors’ Climate and Forests Fund currently requests proposals in two thematic areas: (i) enhanced landscape governance and capacity — with application deadline on 15 December 2016; and (ii) jurisdictional partnerships for forests, climate and agriculture — with application deadline on 31 January 2017.
