The Spindle — NOW-Us! Award for Africa and Asia
The NOW-Us! (NOthing about us, Without Us) Award honors inspiring inclusive initiatives from Africa and Asia that trigger empowerment of otherwise excluded groups. This includes social enterprises led by women, indigenous groups and ethnic minorities with initiatives that improve access to productive resources (land and water), among others. The three winners (1, 2 and 3) get a grant of respectively €25 thousand, €15 thousand and €10 thousand along with coaching and networking opportunities. The MacArthur Foundation seeks applications for the 100&Change competition. The winner will receive US$100 million to develop and implement a project that addresses a critical problem affecting people, places, or the planet. The competition is open to organizations working in any field of endeavor anywhere in the world. Applicants must identify the problem they are trying to solve, as well as their proposed solution. The European Commission seeks to reduce rural poverty and malnutrition and to improve rural livelihoods in Zambia. Projects under this call should focus on (1) Increasing investments in agriculture (including fish farming), (2) Facilitating the creation and strengthening of smallholder farmer and agribusiness associations, and (3) Generating employment opportunities, in particular for women and youth. U.S. Department of State — U.S.-ASEAN Water Smart Exchanges
The U.S. Office of Conservation and Water seeks US applicants for the U.S.-ASEAN Smart Cities Partnership Water-Smart Exchanges (WiSE) program. The Program will pair cities in the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN) with counterparts in the United States to expand the adoption of new technologies and innovative approaches to improve the management of water resources. ASCN participants will tour U.S. locations to study water management practices and technology innovations. One single award of up to US$1.4 million is available for an initial project period of three years. Eligibility is limited to U.S. non-profit organizations and educational institutions.
