Western Union — Scholarship for Undergraduate Study

The Western Union Foundation Global Scholarship Program is a program designed to support young people and their efforts to pursue a post-secondary education in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or business/entrepreneurship. Selected scholarship recipients will receive USD $2,500 each to contribute toward tuition at an accredited post-secondary institution. World Academy of Sciences — C.N.R. Rao Prize for Scientific Research 2018

The prize is named after TWAS Founding Fellow and former president C.N.R. Rao to honor TWAS Fellows from the developing world. The special focus is scientists in the world’s scientifically lagging and least-developed countries who have made significant contributions to global science. The amount of the prize is US$5 thousand. The closing date is 31 May 2018. Link

European Commission — Interreg Atlantic Area, 2nd Call for Proposals

Interreg Atlantic Area supports transnational cooperation projects in 36 Atlantic regions to achieve economic, social and territorial cohesion by implementing solutions to answer to regional challenges in the fields of innovation, resource efficiency, environment and cultural assets. The second call for proposals is open to projects focused on delivering transnational, tangible and sustainable results and territorial and economic impact across the Atlantic Area. There is no pre-established lower or upper limit to project budgets. Project partners must be located within the eligible territory of the Atlantic Area regions, but if the benefit for regions in the cooperation area is clearly demonstrated, organisations based outside the EU may join project partnerships of the Programme. UNESCO World Heritage Education Programme — World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2018

Candidates who wish to attend the World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2018 under the theme of ‘Protecting Heritage in an Ever-Changing World’ from 17 to 26 June 2018 in Manama (Bahrain) are invited to apply for a conference scholarship. The Forum aims to transmit the values of World Heritage, highlighting the potential that World Heritage education may have for facilitating sustainable development. All travel and accommodation costs for the selected participants will be covered. The organizers will assist in the travel preparations (including visas) and bookings. African-German Network of Excellence in Science — Mobility Grant for Junior Researchers

AGNES seeks applications for its mobility grant scheme for junior researchers to strengthen the scientific capacity and networking in Africa through active co-operation. Selected researchers from sub-Saharan African countries will spend research stays between 1 and 2 months at a university/research institute in another sub-Saharan African country, where they will be collaborating with an experienced researcher. The grants covers travel and living costs, as well as a research allowance to the host institute on request to cover some of the research expenses. The application deadline is 06 April 2018. More

U.S. Agency for International Development — Women in Science Mentoring Program

The PEER Women in Science Mentoring Program aims to help retain women in science and teach early career scientists to write successful international research awards. The USAID PEER Program invites applications from African Mentor-Mentee Cohorts. Cohorts should be made up of one woman senior faculty mentor and 2-4 women mentees (postdocs and/or junior faculty). Mentors will receive a US$2 thousand honorarium. Mentees will receive training and the opportunity to compete for small seed grants (US$10 thousand) following their participation in the year-long mentoring program. Australian APEC Study Centre — Women in Research 2018

The Australia – APEC Women in Research Fellowship supports female researchers from developing APEC economies to work in collaboration with partners at Australian institutions. Past fellows include several in subjects such as water resources, climate change, marine microbiology, and others related to environment. The program is open to female citizens and permanent residents in the following countries: Chile, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam. ETH Zurich — Exchange of Young Researchers

ETH Zurich, in Switzerland, supports the exchange of young researchers between Switzerland and China. Swiss senior researchers from universities or research institutes and from all scientific disciplines can apply to host young Chinese scholars or apply to send one of their PhD students to China to conduct research. #SeeingBlue — Young Ocean Champions Award

#SeeingBlue seeks ideas and solutions for responsible blue tourism. “Blue tourism” is defined as responsible touristic activities that not only limit the impact of tourism on the marine environment, but can even reverse it and encourage a healthier relationship between the tourism industry, tourists (local and foreign) and the ocean. The Young Ocean Champions Award is open to young people (13-30 years old) from Mauritius and Seychelles. The winning team will receive US$ 500 in prize money, as well as US$ 1,000 in seed funding and mentoring from experts in the ocean industry to support them in the implementation of their project. São Paulo School of Advanced Science — Workshop: Ocean Research and Governance

The São Paulo School of Advanced Science on Ocean Interdisciplinary Research and Governance (SPSAS Ocean) will hold a 2-week training and networking session in August 2018 on ocean science. The Advanced School will focus on three themes, and it will be led by speakers from several countries. The School will accept about 100 graduate students and early-career scientists from Brazil and other countries. The Advanced School will be conducted in English. A limited number of travel grants is available. The application deadline is 15 March 2018. About
