Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education — Calls for Joint Proposals on Food and Nutrition Security

Nuffic invites applications for Joint Proposals on Food and Nutrition in Vietnam, Tunisia, Sahel, Mali, and Benin. The Nuffic’s Orange Knowledge Programme aims to strengthen professionals and organisations through education and training. Proposed projects must contribute to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, promote sustainable agriculture, and ensure availability and sustainable management of water for all. Funding per institutional collaboration project is in the range of €600 thousand to €1 million. Deadlines vary per country, please check carefully. University St. Gallen — Seed Money Grants Latin America

Seed Money Grants aim to strengthen scientific exchange between researchers from Swiss and Latin American institutions. This year’s call focuses on four specific SDGs: (1) Good health and well-being; (2) Clean water and sanitation; (3) Sustainable cities and communities; and (4) Climate action. The maximum funding amount per project is CHF 25 thousand. The joint project proposal with the Latin American applicant must be submitted by a Swiss Principal Investigator holding a PhD and a permanent position in a Swiss Research Institution. WASCAL — Master’s Program on Climate Change and Marine Sciences

The Technical University of Atlantic (Cabo Verde) seeks applications for its Master’s Program on Climate Change and Marine Sciences (MP-CCMS). The West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) offers scholarships to African MSc students. The program includes English language training for participants from Francophone countries, three semesters of joint Master’s courses, shipboard training, and a scientific trip to a German partner institution. To eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be citizens of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, or Togo. Governments of India and Slovenia — Scientific and Technological Cooperation

The joint call for proposals under the ‘India-Slovenia Scientific and Technological Cooperation Program’ aims to strengthen and expand relations between scientific communities and promote the implementation of joint projects with enterprises from both countries. Priority areas under this call include biotechnology and sustainable energy sources, among others. Scientists and faculty members working at recognized universities or research institutes are eligible to apply for funding. Funding under this call is only for the realization of non-profit scientific work. Projects can be for 3-years duration. The closing date to receive joint project proposals is 11 June 2020. Link

Beyond Plastic Med — Reduce Plastic Pollution in the Mediterranean Islands

Beyond Plastic Med (BeMed) launches a call for projects to reduce plastic pollution in the Mediterranean islands. BeMed’s contribution is €100 thousand per project (up to 70% of the total project value). Project duration should not exceed 24 months. The call is open all the countries around the Mediterranean. Proposed projects must target a Mediterranean island (or a set of islands). Organizations developing activities in the areas of awareness raising, environmental protection and lobbying, or the development of innovative solutions to reduce pollution are especially welcome to apply. Swiss Innovation Agency — EUREKA Globalstars Cooperation with India

EUREKA Globalstars invites proposals for collaborative industry-led R&D projects within the scope “Key Enabling Technologies for Healthcare, Agriculture and Water.” Collaborative research projects should apply key enabling technologies to tackle challenges in healthcare, agriculture or water, resulting in accessible and marketable solutions. Research teams must include at least one Indian organization, one Swiss company and one Swiss research organization. In Switzerland, a total of CHF 1 million is available for grants. Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation — Capacity Building in Higher Education and Research for Development

The Norwegian Program for Capacity Building in Higher Education and Research for Development (NORHED) aims to build capacity in education and research in low and middle-income developing countries. Norad calls for university partnerships to submit applications for funding of joint projects for North-South-South academic collaboration. Applicants from developing countries must be higher education institutions. Projects may range from 3-6 years and have a total budget frame of 10-20 million NOK. European Commission — Supporting CSOs to achieve the SDGs

The European Commission seeks to support civil society organizations as actors of governance in order to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The EC will provide financial assistance to inequality initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia-Pacific. Each region has specifically defined program priorities, including income and wealth inequality,  land rights, access to natural resources such as water for agriculture. Any requested contribution under this call for proposals must be €3.6 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations established in the European Union or the developing countries outlined in the call for proposals. Co-Creation Hub — Business Ideas for a better Africa

The Diaspora Challenge seeks scalable business solutions to social challenges in Africa. The challenge invites proposals in three thematic areas, including one on clean and affordable energy. The winning ideas will receive prototype funding of US$ 15 thousand, seed investment and mentorship to put their idea into action. Only Africans in diaspora are eligible. U.S. Embassy Panama — Public Diplomacy Grants

The U.S. Embassy Panama Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Department of State invites applications for the Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program. The aim of the program is to strengthen cultural ties between the U.S. and Panama through cultural and exchange programming. The funding activities described in this call are: Arts; Community Development; Education; Environment; Information and Statistics; Income Security and Social Services; Regional Development Science and Technology; and other Research and Development. Eligibility extends to not-for-profit organizations (including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations), universities and educational institutions, governmental institutions, and individuals.
