Biodiversity Foundation — Grants for Biodiversity, Climate Change, and Sustainable Development

Spain’s Biodiversity Foundation funds conservation field projects, research, education and training, and public awareness. Most grants are made in Spain. However, the Foundation is willing to consider international projects proposed by Spanish nonprofit NGOs; by large international nonprofit NGOs; by nonprofit organizations in other EU member states; and projects co-funded by AECID (Spain’s agency for international development cooperation). Grants are up to €50 thousand for one year. The closing date for the main program of competitive grants is 30 June 2017. Link

GSDI Association — Small Grants Program 2017

The Global Spatial Data Infrastructure Association (GSDI Association) makes cash grants of US$ 2,500 to support national or sub-national activities in developing countries for capacity building related to environment and sustainable development. Grants can be used to foster partnerships, develop in-country technical capacity, improve data compatibility and access, and increase political support for spatial data infrastructure. Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture — Staff Exchanges with Lilongwe University

RUFORUM announces support for seven staff exchanges at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The goal of the fellowships is to provide opportunities for academics from outside Malawi to enhance faculty teaching, research, and collaboration at LUANAR. Applications are invited from permanent teaching faculty staff, particularly women, employed at any of RUFORUM’s 66 member universities. The deadline for applications (English, French) is 30 June 2017. Link

Instrumentl — Grants for Wildlife, Marine Sciences, and Plant Sciences

Instrumentl is a team of former nonprofit development staff, scientists, and software engineers who share the aim of helping researchers to find and apply for grants. The focus is researchers within the ecological and environmental sciences. Instrumental has compiled a list of research grants that have application deadlines during the next few months, April-October 2017. The geographical scope and eligibility requirements vary with each grant program, including several that support research in the developing world.  Look for “Featured Grants” at the bottom of Instrumentl’s home page. IUCN-Oceania — Small Grants for Energy in the Pacific Islands

The Energy Small Grants Programme provides funding for renewable energy and energy efficiency in participating countries of the Oceania region. These energy projects should be coupled with strong linkages to biodiversity and ecosystem conservation. Applications are invited from communities, civil society organisations, and private enterprises. The participating countries are Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. Funding is up to US$20 thousand. The deadline for applications is 01 June 2017. Link

United States – India Educational Foundation — Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships

The Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships are for Indian scholars who are registered for a Ph.D. at an Indian institution. The fellowships are for six to nine months at institutions in the USA in fields that include agricultural sciences; energy studies; urban and regional planning (with emphasis on smart cities and waste management); materials science (with emphasis on environmental applications); and others.  The application deadline is 15 June 2017.  Link

Social Entrepreneurship Impact & Finance — Awards for Social Enterprise 2017

Social Entrepreneurship Impact & Finance (seif) supports individuals and teams that apply innovative business ideas to address current social and/or environmental problems. Categories include agriculture; food and nutrition; environment; energy; water and sanitation; and others. The competition is open to social enterprises from all over Europe. The program will make four awards of CHF 10 thousand each. The application deadline is 30 June 2017. Link

Nando Peretti Foundation — Grants for Wildlife Conservation

The Nando Peretti Foundation supports a wide range of charitable causes that include nature conservation with a focus on birds and wildlife in Europe and developing countries. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations and associations, which register with the Foundation. In year 2017, the periods for new registrations are 28 February through 17 March; 31 May through16 June; and 31 October through 17 November. Link

Riverbanks Zoo and Garden — Conservation Support Fund

The Riverbanks Zoo and Garden (USA) makes grants for field conservation; habitat management; conservation education; ex situ captive breeding; animal health and welfare; and other themes in wildlife research and conservation. Grants generally range from US$1 thousand to US$5 thousand. The application deadlines are 01 June and 01 December. Link
