Thomson Reuters Foundation — Journalism Bootcamp: Profit & Loss of Biodiversity Destruction

The Thomson Reuters Foundation invites applications for a dual-track bootcamp on the growing economic, physical and social risks around biodiversity loss. The program aims to strengthen trust between journalists and NGOs/CSOs by upskilling journalists to better report on the topic and enhancing CSOs’ communications. Earth Journalism Network — Pacific Islands Story Grants

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers 12 reporting grants to support the production of in-depth stories that will call attention to critical environmental issues in the Pacific region. ENJ expects at least six stories with focus on ocean issues, such as efforts and solutions to protect the ocean, ways to increase ocean’s resilience to climate change and regulate sustainable use of its resources. International Water Association — Global Water Award

The International Water Association (IWA) focuses on developing solutions for water and wastewater management. IWA invites applications for the IWA Global Water Award. The award recognizes the exceptional contribution made by an individual to improve sustainable water and sanitation globally by creating an innovative water solution/management practice that impacts broader sustainable development. The award will be presented at the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition in Copenhagen, Denmark (September 2022). The application deadline is 06 May 2022. Global Water Award

International Water Association — Young Leadership Award

The International Water Association (IWA) Young Leadership Award is granted to an exceptional water professional below the age of 35 who has demonstrated significant achievements in their career. This award recognizes the contribution of an individual rather than an organization or project. The winner will receive their award during the World Water and Development Congress & Exhibition (September 2022) in Copenhagen, Denmark. The call for nominations closes 06 May 2022. World Academy of Sciences — TWAS Young Affiliates 2022

The World Academy of Sciences Regional Office for Sub-Saharan Africa invites nominations of suitable candidates for the TWAS Young Affiliateship. Eligibility for nomination extends to researchers from developing nations who have at least 10 international publications. Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute — Research in Tropical Forests

The ForestGEO Grants Program supports research that uses forest data from the program’s field sites. Priority will be given to early-career researchers, and researchers with less access to other institutional funds. Social scientists and natural scientists of all nationalities are eligible. Applicants do not need to be associated with a site prior to applying, but each applicant will need to contact a site Principal Investigator (linked from the announcement) prior to submitting a proposal. Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences — Prize in Food Security

The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) accepts nominations for the 2022 Al-Sumait Prize in Food Security. The prize is awarded to individuals or institutions who have made significant advancement in food security and nutrition in Africa. The prize is awarded within one of three fields – Food Security, Health and Education – and has a value of US$1 million. The candidates’ research projects must be innovative and have achieved high-impact in the African continent. World Academy of Sciences — Advanced Research in the Biotechnology

The TWAS-BIOTEC Postdoctoral Fellowship Program offers fellowships to young scientists from developing countries who wish to pursue advanced research in biotechnology. BIOTEC will provide a monthly allowance to cover living costs, such as accommodation and food. Applicants must hold a PhD degree and may not be older than 40 years. Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture — Young African Entrepreneurs Competition 2022

The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) sponsors a competition for young African entrepreneurs (< 35 years) to showcase their business innovations in agribusiness. Although the focus of the competition is agribusiness, business innovations in other themes (e.g., natural resources, meteorology, urbanization, green economy, etc.) will also be considered. Competition will provide seed funding to young entrepreneurs with creative and innovative business ideas. The competition is open to all African countries. Stiftung Entrepreneurship — Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition 2022

The Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition (CEC) invites entrepreneurs from all around the world to submit innovative answers and ideas to solve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Young entrepreneurs (age 15-35) submit their ideas and projects in the Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship category. Entrepreneurs over 30 years apply to the Adult Citizen Entrepreneurship category.
