Reporters Without Borders Germany invites two journalists from countries with restricted freedom of press and information to Berlin for a period limited to six months. During their stay, media professionals take time off from their daily obligations to recover from their difficult working conditions and to expand their personal and professional horizons. Additionally, the time spent in Berlin offers opportunities for exchange with international journalists from all over the world. Reporters Without Borders will cover travel and living costs. Alexander von Humboldt Foundation — Residency Program
The Humboldt Residency Program offers participants the opportunity to cooperate on a common topic, generate new ideas, and communicate them to a broad audience. The topic for 2025 is “The Future of Food”. During the six-week residency in Brandenburg/Berlin, participants meet daily in shared working spaces and have the unique opportunity of extensive time and freedom to gain an in-depth understanding of each other’s work. Funding for participation in the Humboldt Residency Program includes a monthly allowance, travel allowance, accommodation, and a budget for arranging public event formats. The Clinton Global Initiative University seeks student leaders from around the world who are committed to taking action in their community to address a pressing challenge such as the environment, climate change, poverty alleviation, or public health. Fellows receive an all-expenses-paid trip to attend the Clinton Global Initiative 2025 Annual Meeting in New York City in September 2025. Earth Journalism Network — Story Grants Amazon
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers story grants to produce stories on transnational conservation crimes in the Amazon Region and the threats faced by Indigenous peoples and local communities. EJN welcomes story ideas that take a regional perspective on the threats to biodiversity in the Amazon region and focus on the transnational nature of activities such as illegal logging, unsustainable and unregulated fishing, wildlife trafficking, and illegal mining. Global Disaster Preparedness Center — Urban Climate Resilience
The Global Disaster Preparedness Center (GDPC) announces a small research grants program focused on the theme of climate resilience in urban areas. The initiative aims to deepen our understanding of urban climate resilience by supporting original research in low- and middle-income countries. The GDPC provides up to US$10 thousand in funding to university researchers. Applicants must be affiliated with an accredited university at the time of submission. Acumen — West Africa Fellowship
The Acumen Fellows Program supports social innovators from West Africa who are tackling issues of poverty and injustice within their community. The Fellowship consists of a fully-funded leadership program, where Fellows remain in their role while taking part in a series of immersive seminars, workshops, and group practice. The Obama Foundation Scholars Program at Columbia University (USA) is a one-year training program for leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to finding solutions to challenges in their communities or countries. Scholars attend courses and participate in leadership development training. Participants receive a furnished studio apartment during their stay, a monthly stipend to assist with living expenses, as well as travel and tuition fees paid. Pulitzer Center — Rainforest Investigations Network
The Pulitzer Center accepts applications for the Rainforest Investigations Network (RIN). The RIN Fellowship fosters collaboration among journalists to investigate the financial incentives, illegal activities, and global supply chains driving industrial-scale deforestation. RIN Fellows will pursue both individual and joint investigative projects, examining the root causes and structural drivers of deforestation across the three main tropical rainforest regions: the Amazon, the Congo Basin, and Southeast Asia. The Weidenfeld and Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme aims to support outstanding postgraduate students from developing and emerging economies for post-graduate studies at the University of Oxford, UK. Relevant areas of study include Biodiversity Conservation Management, Earth Sciences, Environment, International Wildlife Conservation Practice, Water Science, Zoology, and many others.
