The Youth Climate Innovation (YCI) Program supports young innovators from developing countries as they develop high-impact climate technology solutions that are both locally relevant and globally adaptable. Participants benefit from mentorship, coaching and access to a network of investors and institutions focused on climate technology. The program is open to individuals and teams between 18 and 35 years old from Africa, MENA, Latin America and the Caribbean, or Asia-Pacific. The application deadline is 20 October 2024. The Catholic Relief Services (CRS) invites individuals dedicated to a career in international relief & development work to apply for the International Development Fellows Program. Fellows receive training and support CRS’ work in various sectors such as agriculture/livelihoods, health, water and sanitation, emergency response, or micro-financing. The Catholic Relief Services offers 20-30 fellowships each year. Each fellow is placed in one of CRS’ overseas country programs for a 12-month fellowship. The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) offers an innovative training program for early to mid-career professionals from Germany and African partner countries. The training aims to capacitate professionals to engage in addressing significant global challenges, such as climate change and economic disparity. Participants of the Leadership Academy must be nationals or permanent residents of Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Togo, or Zambia, and work on issues relevant to sustainable development. ProBleu — Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems
The ProBleu funding initiative supports primary and secondary schools as essential champions in educating children and youth about blue sustainability and the safeguarding of marine and freshwater ecosystems. The call is open to primary and secondary-level schools in the EU Member States and associated countries. Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) is a global initiative that empowers the next generation of sustainability leaders. The Future Sustainability Leaders (FSL) program connects university students and young professionals with global leaders to help them learn the latest sustainability best practices. The Sustainability Ambassadors (SA) program is designed for high school students to become Sustainability Ambassadors by offering them core knowledge & skills training. Earthshot Prize — Nominations 2025
The Earthshot Prize searches the globe for game-changing innovations that will help repair our planet. The best five solutions receive £1 million to scale their work. The categories are: Protect and Restore Nature; Clean our Air; Revive our Oceans; Build a Waste-Free World; and Fix our Climate. The Earthshot Prize has a network of official nominators. Asian Development Bank — Innovative Policy Research Award
The Innovative Policy Research Award promotes the application of innovative empirical research in economics to support evidence-based policies for addressing key development challenges in Asia and the Pacific. There is no restriction on topics or themes. The author of the award-winning paper will receive a US$7 thousand grant. Researchers from any country may apply, but the policy solutions must be relevant for an Asian Development Bank developing member country. Submissions are due no later than 31 December 2024. Social Science Research Council — Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa 2025
The Social Science Research Council offers Individual Research Fellowships to support research and analysis on peacebuilding. Past topics have included some related to climate change and land issues. Fellowships support six months of field-based research through a stipend of up to US$15 thousand. Applicants must be African citizens currently residing in an African country while holding a current faculty position at an accredited college or university. University of Pennsylvania — Workshop for Social Entrepreneurs
The Global Social Impact House (GSIH) is a seven-day residential program in Costa Rica (June 2025) that provides social entrepreneurs with the training they need to advance their ventures. Workshops are customized to the needs of fellows. The Center for Social Impact Strategy at the University of Pennsylvania will provide scholarships, which include accommodation and food. The Oxford Climate Journalism Network is a global network for practicing journalists to learn from peers and academics while developing their own expertise and career in climate journalism. Members of the network will participate in a six-month online program with access to experts, dedicated workshops, and a community of 100 journalists from all continents. The course is designed for journalists, multimedia reporters, photographers, and editors who are interested in improving their coverage of climate change.
