Association of Commonwealth Universities — Masters Scholarships 2018

The Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships enable successful applicants to benefit from the expertise provided by universities in low and middle-income countries around the Commonwealth. The program currently offers 13 masters-level scholarships at ACU member universities in 9 countries. Applicants are citizens of Commonwealth countries other than the host country. Subject areas for the masters programs include agriculture, environment, climate change, and others. The application deadline at all participating universities is 11 March 2018. Organization for Tropical Studies — Research Fellowship Program 2018

The OTS manages a research fellowship program to support field research in tropical biology and related fields. The program offers three types of awards: pilot awards for exploratory research; thesis research fellowships; and ECTS-GS fellowships. Most awards are restricted to three OTS field stations in Costa Rica. Exceptions are one annual fellowship for research at the Cocha Cashu field station in Peru, and the Hovore-Horn Entomology awards in any Latin American country. Asian Institute of Technology — Masters Scholarships in Energy and Environment

The Asian Institute of Technology invites applications for the Loom Nam Khong Pijai Scholarships for masters degree programs in infrastructure development; energy technology; oil, gas, and natural resources development; and environmental engineering and management. Eligibility extends to nationals of Cambodia, China (Yunnan and Guangxi provinces), Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Each scholarship covers tuition and registration fees, accommodation, and a bursary for living expenses at AIT‘s residential campus in Thailand for the 22 months of the masters program. European Commission — Master of Science in Food Security and Climate Change 2018-2020

The Master of Science in Food Security and Climate Change (MS FSCC) is a joint degree for students from Southeast Asia funded by the European Commission’s ERASMUS+ Capacity Building for Higher Education. Each MS FSCC student will be enrolled in two universities, be supervised jointly by professors from these universities, and have a joint thesis defense. The ERASMUS+ funding provides excellent students in the program with a chance to spend one semester at a partner university in Europe. Applications close on 31 January 2018. About the MS program

United Nations University — Post-Doctoral Research Fellowships 2018

The United Nations University offers postdoctoral fellowships to young scholars and policymakers, especially from the developing world. One fellowships program is with the UNU’s Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS); the other is with the UNU’s Center for Policy Research (UNU-CPR). The research themes include ecosystem services; water and urban development; governance for sustainable development; low-carbon technology; and others. Michigan State University — Agricultural Development Studies and Research 2018

With funding from the U.S. government, the Borlaug Higher Education Agricultural Research and Development (BHEARD) Program is implemented by Michigan State University. The program supports long-term training of agricultural researchers at the master’s and doctoral levels. BHEARD invites applicants from Mali for study in the USA or other selected countries. The announcement identifies the participating Mali institutions and the eligible fields of study related to agriculture, meteorology, and climate change. The application deadline is 01 January 2018. UNESCO Institute for Water Education — Masters Fellowships

Located in the Netherlands, UNESCO-IHE offers six scholarships for the Water Cooperation and Diplomacy master’s programme. The objective of the program is to train future water managers and other professionals to address competition over water. Eligibility extends to existing and future water professionals from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The scholarship will cover educational fees, however, successful applicants will be required to fund up to approximately US$5 thousand for living costs and flights. Chinese Academy of Sciences — PhD Fellowships in China 2018

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) jointly invite applications for the CAS-TWAS President’s PhD Fellowship Programme to pursue PhD studies in China. The participating institutions are the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences; the University of Science and Technology of China; and CAS institutes around China. Eligible fields of study include agricultural sciences, various fields of biology, and other areas of the natural sciences and engineering. The program will award up to 200 scholarships to non-Chinese applicants worldwide. The maximum age of applicants is 35. The application deadline is 31 March 2018. See the Call for Applications

Overseas Development Institute — Fellowships 2018-2019

The Overseas Development Institute (ODI) is an independent think tank on international development and humanitarian issues. The ODI Fellowship Scheme appoints highly qualified postgraduate economists and statisticians through a competitive selection process. The fellowship scheme is open to candidates of all nationalities who have a master’s degree or PhD in economics, statistics or a related field. Suitable specialised qualifications at postgraduate level include agricultural economics, and environmental economics, among others. The total support per fellow amounts to approximately £21 thousand in the first year of the fellowship and £23 thousand in the second year. The deadline for applications is 1 December 2017.
