Future Africa Institute — Early Career Fellowship

The University of Pretoria announces a new Early Career Fellowship that aims to develop research leadership for the African Bioeconomy. The program will require that at least 70% (8-9 months) of the academic year is spent at the Future Africa Campus of the University of Pretoria. Applications are welcome for such topic areas as technological and non-technological exploitation of natural resources, ecological issues and climate change, and others. Emerging research leaders in the natural and social sciences and humanities are encouraged to apply. Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences — Research Fellowships 2018

JIRCAS provides fellowships to researchers in developing countries to collaborate with Japanese counterparts for research in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. “Tsukuba” fellowships are carried out at the JIRCAS headquarters in Japan. “Project Site” fellowships are at research institutes in the developing countries where JIRCAS collaborative research projects are being implemented. World Academy of Sciences — UPM Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme

TWAS invites young scientists from developing countries (other than Malaysia) who wish to pursue advanced research in the natural sciences at the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in Selangor, Malaysia to apply. UPM will provide a standard monthly allowance which should be used to cover living costs, such as accommodation and food. Applicants must hold a PhD degree in a field of the natural sciences, including agricultural sciences, biology, and others. Applications will be accepted from 01 June to 31 August 2018. DAAD and SEARCA — In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme

DAAD offers scholarships for PhD and Master studies. The scholarships are intended for graduate and postgraduate students from South East Asia who want to pursue Master’s or PhD courses in sustainable agricultural and rural development in their home country (In-Country scholarships) or in another South East Asia country (In-Region scholarships). DAAD In-Country/In-Region scholarship holders are also encouraged to apply for a research grant in Germany for 2 up to 6 months. The scholarship covers tuition; study and research allowance; food, lodging and incidental expenses; travel; and insurance. Female applicants are especially encouraged to participate. Western Union — Scholarship for Undergraduate Study

The Western Union Foundation Global Scholarship Program is a program designed to support young people and their efforts to pursue a post-secondary education in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or business/entrepreneurship. Selected scholarship recipients will receive USD $2,500 each to contribute toward tuition at an accredited post-secondary institution. International Polar Foundation — Antarctica Fellowship

The Baillet Latour Antarctica Fellowship provides young scientists with the opportunity to conduct research in East Antarctica while operating out of Princess Elisabeth Antarctica research station. Fellows receive €150 thousand for 2 field seasons at Princess Elisabeth research station for scientific research in Antarctica. The fellowship is open to applicants from any country in the world. New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre — Postdoctoral Fellowship in Livestock Emissions Research

The government of New Zealand sponsors LEARN as a program to build international capability in livestock emissions research. LEARN currently invites applications for postdoctoral fellowships of one to two years from technical staff and scientists in developing countries who will work with New Zealand colleagues. Applicants need the collaborative support of a New Zealand host organization, which will administer the funds. IHE Delft Institute for Water Education — Scholarships for Water and Sanitation Professionals

Rotary and the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education provide scholarships to students studying Water and Sanitation. Candidates must live or work near a Rotary club and be admitted to one of the following degree programs at IHE Delft (joint programs are not eligible): (1) MSc in Urban Water and Sanitation; (2) MSc in Water Management and Governance; or (3) MSc in Water Science and Engineering. U.S. Agency for International Development — Women in Science Mentoring Program

The PEER Women in Science Mentoring Program aims to help retain women in science and teach early career scientists to write successful international research awards. The USAID PEER Program invites applications from African Mentor-Mentee Cohorts. Cohorts should be made up of one woman senior faculty mentor and 2-4 women mentees (postdocs and/or junior faculty). Mentors will receive a US$2 thousand honorarium. Mentees will receive training and the opportunity to compete for small seed grants (US$10 thousand) following their participation in the year-long mentoring program. African Union — Scholarship for African Women in Science

The Mwalimu Nyerere African Union Scholarship Scheme encourages the participation of young African female students at postgraduate level, for Masters and PhD programmes in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Candidates must be under 35 years for Masters or under 40 years for PhD studies and have proof of admission to undertake a full time Masters or PhD programme at a recognized university of an African Union Member State.
