United Nations Capital Development Fund — Renewable Energy Fund Burkina Faso

The UNCDF “Fond des Energies Renouvelables pour la Résilience du Burkina Faso” (FERR-BF) supports projects that accelerate the growth of income-generating activities by adopting renewable energy solutions. Grants will range from US$50 thousand to US$200 thousand. Eligibility extends to companies registered in Burkina Faso. The deadline for expressions of interest is 17 April 2020. Find out more

British Embassy Chisinau — Climate Change Solutions

The British Embassy Chisinau seeks applications from organizations working on climate change and environmental issues in Moldova. This call for proposals seeks applications for projects related to renewable energy; green finance; nature-based solutions to mitigate climate change and biodiversity loss, restoration of natural habitats and ecosystems; and adaptation and resilience. Project proposals in the value range up to £20 thousand are welcome. Funding may be awarded to consortia of local and/or international organizations. Slovak Republic — Small Grants for Projects in South Asia

SlovakAid supports small-scale projects in various sectors, including food and agriculture, water and sanitation, clean energy, and the sustainable use of natural resources in developing countries. The current call supports local projects in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. The maximum financial support per project is €10 thousand with a maximum project duration of 6-12 months. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations and local authorities. Government of India — India-South Korea Scientific and Technological Cooperation

The governments of India and South Korea invite joint research proposals under the India-South Korea Scientific and Technological Cooperation Program. Scientists and researchers are invited to submit proposals for joint research projects in the following areas: Green Mobility, Engineering Sciences, Materials Science & Technology, and Renewable Energy. The program is open to researchers, scientists, institutions located in India or the Republic of Korea. The duration of each project should be three years. Co-Creation Hub — Business Ideas for a better Africa

The Diaspora Challenge seeks scalable business solutions to social challenges in Africa. The challenge invites proposals in three thematic areas, including one on clean and affordable energy. The winning ideas will receive prototype funding of US$ 15 thousand, seed investment and mentorship to put their idea into action. Only Africans in diaspora are eligible. Academy of Medical Sciences — Global Challenges Research Fund

The Global Challenges Research Fund invites applications to grow research capability in the UK to meet the challenges faced by developing countries. Examples of thematic areas include sustainable agriculture; clean air, water, and sanitation; renewable energy and materials; addressing environmental shocks and long-term environmental changes; and others. Grantseekers may request up to £25 thousand in project support. Both UK and international research organisations (universities, public laboratories, or nonprofit organisations) can be research partners and receive funds. Norwegian Embassy in Kyiv — Small-Scale Grants for Ukraine

The Government of Norway announces small-scale grant project proposals within the thematic areas: human rights, democracy, freedom of speech, and promoting energy efficiency projects with substantial environmental component on community level. Applications can request between NOK 500 thousand and NOK 1 million, but smaller grants might also be considered. The project implementation period is limited to 12 months. Eligibility extends to Ukrainian organizations. Projects implemented in cooperation with Norwegian, international NGOs, or by international organizations will also be considered. Global LEAP Awards — Electric Pressure Cooker Competition

The Global LEAP Electric Pressure Cooker Competition recognizes manufacturers and distributors of electric pressure cookers that design energy efficient electric pressure cookers suitable for use in off-and weak-grid settings. Winners and finalists of the competition will be eligible for up to US$200 thousand prize money. The competition is open to companies in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. International Fund for Agricultural Development — Renewable Energy Technologies in Agriculture

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) seeks an implementing partner to scale-up renewable energy technologies in existing IFAD agriculture projects in the Latin America and Caribbean for the benefit of smallholder farmers and producers. IFAD will make a three-year grant of US$2 million to be used for implementing and scaling-up energy technologies. UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — David Phillips Fellowships 2020

The David Phillips Fellowship (DPF) provides support for UK and international early-career researchers wishing to establish their first independent research group. Proposals can be submitted in any area of science, including agriculture, bioenergy and biotechnology. Awards are up to £1 million for five years. Proposals are welcomed from applicants of all nationalities. The application deadline is 12 May 2020. Here
