International Conference on Diseases of Zoo and Wild Animals — Rudolf Ippen Young Scientist Award 2018

The Award honors a young scientist who published a promising scientific paper in the thematic areas of wildlife veterinary science, conservation medicine, or zoo animal medicine. The “Rudolf Ippen Young Scientist Award” will be awarded at the 2018 Joint AAZV/EAZWV/Leibniz-IZW Conference in Prague (Czech Republic) in October 2018. The award is endowed with €1 thousand. World Energy Council — Future Energy Leaders

The World Energy Council looks for bright young professionals from all around the world to join its Future Energy Leaders’ programme (FEL-100). Future Energy Leaders (FELS), form a community and have the chance to shape the global energy agenda. United Nations University — Climate Fellowship Programme

The UNFCCC–UNU Early Career Climate Fellowship Programme offers young people from developing countries the opportunity to start their career at the interface between international climate policy development and research. Fellowships may last from six months to two years. Climate Fellows will be able to work in their home countries or internationally, deploying the valuable experience and insights they have gained during the programme. Applicants must be enrolled in their final term or have recently graduated from an advanced university degree programme in environment, climate change, communications, international relations or a related field. Qualified women candidates and candidates from least developed countries are especially encouraged to apply. Applications are accepted two times a year. International Youth Foundation — Global Fellowship for Social Entrepreneurs

The Laureate Global Fellowship, sponsored by Laureate International Universities, recognizes 20 young leaders from around the world who have pioneered solutions to urgent social and environmental challenges in their communities and beyond. Laureate Global Fellows begin their fellowship experience at a week-long training retreat and gain access to opportunities for needs-based personal and organizational development. São Paulo School of Advanced Science — Workshop: Ocean Research and Governance

The São Paulo School of Advanced Science on Ocean Interdisciplinary Research and Governance (SPSAS Ocean) will hold a 2-week training and networking session in August 2018 on ocean science. The Advanced School will focus on three themes, and it will be led by speakers from several countries. The School will accept about 100 graduate students and early-career scientists from Brazil and other countries. The Advanced School will be conducted in English. Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition — Research on Sustainable Food 2018

The Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition sponsors BCFN YES! (Young Earth Solutions) as an international competition for young researchers on the theme of sustainable food systems. The program offers one-year research grants up to €20 thousand to PhD and postdoc researchers worldwide from any background and nationality. The maximum age is 35. Subject areas include climate change, resilient agriculture, sustainable water management, ecosystem services, food policy, and many others. The competition encourages the participation of teams from different disciplines and countries who wish to combine their expertise in innovative approaches. International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology — PhD Scholarships 2018

In partnership with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), icipe announces research scholarships in the African Regional Postgraduate Programme in Insect Sciences (ARPPIS). The program supports three-year doctoral research studies to prepare young researchers in Sub-Saharan Africa for internationally competitive research careers in insect and related sciences. Qualified female candidates, candidates from less privileged regions or groups, and candidates with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply. Qualified nationals of French- and Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa are also especially encouraged to apply. RUFORUM and DAAD — Doctoral Studies in Agriculture and Food Science for Africans

The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) announces PhD scholarships available through the German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD) for doctoral studies at three universities in Eastern and Central Africa. They are the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Sciences and Technology (Tanzania); Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Kenya); and Makerere University (Uganda). British Council — International Research Workshops

The British Council supports research workshops under the programs Researcher Links and the Newton Fund to assist early-career researchers from the UK and partner countries to interact and explore research collaborations. Current opportunities that have one or more environmental themes include: (1) Exploring the potential of biological soft matter science in agrifood challenges, UK, Brazil and Uruguay, with application deadline on 19 February 2018; and (2) Research capacity for sustainable ecosystem-based management of estuaries and coasts in the UK and South Africa, with application deadline on 16 March 2018. Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey — Research Fellowships 2018

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) awards research fellowships to international highly qualified PhD students and young postdoctoral researchers. Applicants should be non-Turkish citizens who are age 35 or younger. Preference is for candidates who have the potential to contribute to Turkey’s international cooperation in scientific and technological development.
