The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) invites youth from the Arab States region to submit creative solutions on the future of climate change and/or civic engagement. Ideas can be submitted through poetry, an article, a story, a monologue, a piece of art, videos, objects from the future (that exist in 2030), dance, music, or any medium of the participant’s choosing. Up to 30 young people will be selected to take part in the Youth Futures Fellowship, a five-week capacity building opportunity. Climate Tracker — Southeast Asia Media Research Fellowship
Climate Tracker seeks young researchers with media experience to explore the green transition from COVID-19 in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. The aim of the research project is to help develop a clearer understanding of the region’s media coverage of this theme and will involve interviews with several journalists to identify their challenges, needs for support, and capacity building. Climate Change Africa Opportunities Network — Green Ambassadors for Climate in Africa
The Climate Change Africa Opportunities (CCAO) Network asks young climate and environment activists to become Green Ambassadors for climate in Africa. The network aims to promote young climate activists and support them in remaining proactive for the protection of the environment and the fight against climate change. Green Ambassadors are voluntary activists but will receive international recognition and access to networking opportunities. The African Graduate Student Research Fund makes awards to African nationals pursuing graduate degrees in mammalogy. The Global University Climate Forum brings student activists together to share ideas and act on the global imperative of addressing climate change. The Forum is a one-year program offering a series of workshops that will cover a range of topics pertaining to climate action. Selected teams will be invited to participate in a series of workshops. ISEKI-Food Association — Food Biodiversity Student Competition
The 2020 Food Factory-4-Us Sustainable Supply Chain International Student Competition seeks great ideas for valorizing food biodiversity. The competition is open to Master’s students enrolled in a food study program in any country. Participants have to form teams of 3-5 students, get a faculty mentor and present a project proposal. Climate Tracker — Scholarship for Journalists (Chile)
Climate Tracker offers a 3-month paid fellowship to environmental and climate journalists from Chile. Fellows are expected to cover Energy and Climate Change issues and publish at least two articles in national media. Selected fellows receive online training, mentorship and a US$150 stipend per month for the duration of their fellowship. The Louis Malassis International Scientific Prize for Agriculture and Food recognizes contributions in research, development, and capacity building in the North, South, or the Mediterranean Region to sustainably improve food and agricultural systems while addressing food security and poverty reduction. The Prize will be awarded in three categories: distinguished scientist; promising young scientist; and outstanding career in agricultural development. Interdisciplinary Conservation Network — Workshop for Early-Career Researchers
The Interdisciplinary Conservation Network (ICN) is a bi-annual workshop that provides a select group of early-career researchers with the opportunity to produce a collaborative piece of research, take part in capacity building activities, and develop global networks with fellow researchers. The ICN 2020-21 workshop structure includes a series of virtual collaborative meetings (September 2020 to April 2021) and a 3-day in-person event (April 2021) in Oxford, UK. ICN will provide accommodation and meals for non-Oxford based attendees. Additionally, up to six total bursaries will be available to support travel expenses for international attendees. World Meteorological Organization — International Prize for Earth Science Data
The World Climate Research Programme and the Global Climate Observing System invite nominations for the WCRP/GCOS International Data Prize. The prize will be awarded to an early- to mid-career researcher for outstanding contributions to the Earth system science community. The prize honors achievements in data collection for climate change research. Candidates should be within the first ten years of their career, as measured by receipt of a PhD or equivalent highest qualification.
