Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Environment and Climate Action: Asia-Pacific Islands

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Fiji, Kiribati, Samoa, Tonga, and Tuvalu. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action projects focusing on adaptation and mitigation, water management, and other thematic priorities. The average contribution is C$15 thousand to C$30 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to not-for-profit local, national or community-based organizations. U.S. Department of State — YSEALI Marine Accelerator Program

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Marine Accelerator Program (MAP) seeks emerging conservation leaders and influencers that address marine and inland waterway issues in Southeast Asia. Selected youth leaders will receive capacity training and participate in workshops to scale their initiative. Participants will also get a chance to receive up to US$2 thousand in project grants. Eligibility extends to citizens and residents of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam. Applicants may apply as individuals or represent private entities (including startups and social enterprises), civil society organizations, or academic institutions. MarTERA — Transnational Research and Innovation Projects

MarTERA provides funding to collaborative research and innovation projects. The call identifies the following priority areas: (1) environmentally friendly maritime technologies; (2) innovative concepts for ships and offshore structures; (3) automation, sensors, monitoring and observations; (4) advanced manufacturing and production, (5) safety and security. Applicants from Belarus, Belgium, Germany, Malta, Norway, Poland, Romania, South Africa, and Turkey are eligible for funding. The transnational call has a budget of €8.5 million. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in the Mediterranean Basin (Algeria)

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) invites Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) for small grants (up to US$20 thousand) in support of biodiversity conservation in the Mediterranean Basin. Funding will be provided in support of conservation/preservation of biodiversity in coastal areas and plant conservation in Algeria. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in the Mountains of Central Asia (Turkmenistan)

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) invites applications for small grants to promote conservation of biodiversity in the Mountains of Central Asia. This call is open to NGOs, community groups, universities, civil society organizations in Turkmenistan. The maximum funding amount per project is US$20 thousand. BIOPAMA — Small Technical Grants for Assessment of Conservation Areas

Biodiversity and Protected Areas Management (BIOPAMA) makes small grants for the technical assessment of protected conservation areas. Small Technical Grants for Assessment (STGA) aim to identify result-oriented priority actions for improved protected and conserved areas management and governance. The maximum amount is €20 thousand per assessment. Assessments must take place in priority areas such as key landscapes for conservation, key biodiversity areas, marine managed areas or other protected and conserved areas in Africa, the Caribbean and the Asia-Pacific region.  Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations, government agencies, and small or medium enterprises. U.S. Mission to Thailand — Annual Grant Program

The U.S. Embassy in Thailand announces an open competition for organizations and individuals to submit applications to carry out programs that promote the US-Thai partnership. The Embassy funds activities that increase awareness of Thailand’s environmental interests, including the importance of water management, among other areas of interest. The maximum grant amount is US$30 thousand per project. Nonprofit organizations, universities and individuals are eligible to apply for funding. U.S. Department of State — Wildlife Trafficking in Sub-Saharan Africa

The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), supports activities that counter wildlife trafficking and illegal logging in Sub-Saharan Africa. The overall goal is to reduce the ability of criminal groups to profit from poaching and trafficking of protected animals, as well as protected timber and plants, originating from Africa. Applicants may request up to US$1.5 million for the implementation of anti-wildlife crime related activities. Eligibility extends to qualified U.S. based and foreign non-profit organizations (including NGOs), and educational institutions. The closing date for submission of applications is 06 January 2021. U.S. Agency for International Development — Community Response to Conservation Crimes

The United States Agency for International Development in Peru (USAID/Peru) seeks applications from qualified entities to implement the “Regional Community Response to Conservation Crimes” program. USAID aims to increase civil society led efforts to promote society values and raise awareness of the benefits of protecting both biodiversity and cultural identity linked to the Amazon Biome. Projects should include approaches for alternative economic development that safeguards cultural identities and expands livelihoods while protecting biodiversity on land and water. U.S. Agency for International Development — Natural Resource Security in the Philippines

The U.S. Agency for International Development Mission in the Philippines (USAID/Philippines) invites applications for funding from eligible organizations to carry out activities that will contribute to the improvement of natural resource security and governance in the Philippines. USAID will support activities that strengthen the Philippines’ commitment to biodiversity and habitat protection and improve the government’s capacity to manage its natural resources.
