Clinton Foundation — Clinton Global Initiative University

The Clinton Global Initiative University seeks student leaders from around the world who are committed to take action in their community to address a pressing challenge such as environment, climate change, poverty alleviation, or public health. Selected students receive mentorship, access to funding streams, and the opportunity to participate in the 2022 virtual annual meeting hosted by Howard University. Applicants have to be at least 18 years of age and be currently enrolled in an institution of higher learning. The application deadline is 21 January 2022. Link

Ashoka — Fellowship Mexico, Central America, Caribbean

The Ashoka Fellowship selects social entrepreneurs with high impact and systems change projects in Mexico, Central American and Caribbean countries. Ashoka seeks projects with innovative strategies, methods, or new approaches to address opportunities and problems. Initiatives need to solve a problem at the root level and have the potential to generate geographically scaled impact. Applications have to be submitted by 16 October 2021. Ashoka Fellowship

PES Latam Alliance — Support for Social Entrepreneurs in Latin America

PES Latam Alliance supports social entrepreneurs in Latin America to accelerate their impact in the region. The Bridge for Billions program seeks social businesses with innovative solutions working to improve the lives of the most vulnerable. Selected social enterprises will be able to access up to US$50 thousand of seed capital, support through courses and events, training with alliance partners, and a community of entrepreneurs. The applicants must be a registered hybrid or for-profit business and must have been operating (selling product/service) for at least a year. Famae — Sustainable Innovations Challenge

The company Famae seeks innovative and concrete solutions to fight against climate change, everywhere in the world, around waste, water, food, habitat, energy and mobility. Solutions should be pragmatic, efficient, durable, and money-saving to make life easier for urban citizens while reducing their environmental footprint. Individuals, teams, businesses, government entities, universities and organizations are eligible to apply. The maximum award is €1 million which may be allocated to a single exceptional project to cover the production of a prototype. Applications will be accepted until 15 October 2021. Ministry of Economic Affairs Taiwan — Taiwan Excellence Awards

The “Taiwan Excellence: Sharing is Caring” campaign solicits proposals for philanthropic events on issues relating to social concerns and environmental protection. The three best proposals will be awarded US$10 thousand each. The funds for executing each of the three best proposals shall be decided by the organizers, provided that the funds for implementation do not exceed US$150 thousand. Any natural persons or legal persons may submit proposals. Proposals must be submitted by 31 October 2021. Taiwan Excellence Awards

U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration — International Coral Reef Conservation Grants 2022-2023

The NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program provides matching grants and cooperative agreements for international coral reef conservation projects. NOAA currently invites applications for the international program, with priority for the Wider Caribbean, South East Asia and South Pacific, and Micronesia. The program offers funding from US$40 thousand to US$300 thousand per year for projects of up to two years. The program is open to institutions of higher education, NGOs (U.S. and international), governments (except U.S.), and for-profit organizations. The application deadline is 01 December 2021. CIVICUS — Civil Society Activism

The CIVICUS Nelson Mandela-Graça Machel Innovation Awards shed a light on the importance of people power and civil society activism in creating a more just, inclusive and sustainable world. The Awards will recognize seven individuals, groups or organizations that stand out for their innovative work building people power in support of human rights and social justice for everyone. Each winning initiative will receive a US$5 thousand prize. The Awards are open to any individual, organization or group in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Pacific. U.S. African Development Foundation — Mandela Washington Fellows Program

The Mandela Washington Fellows Program provides up to US$25 thousand in funding to African-owned, sustainable social ventures. Venture must be based in and operate in Sub-Saharan Africa. Applicants have to demonstrate how the venture will improve and change the communities in which the grants are implemented. Applications are open until 21 September 2021. More info here

International Support Network for African Development — Environmental Education Program

The International Support Network for African Development (ISNAD-Africa) seeks to implement the Environmental Education Program (EEP) to identify environmental challenges in Africa and motivate youth to develop solutions to the identified problems and needs through critical thinking and the application of previously acquired knowledge from subjects in secondary school. The program seeks to provide youth with action competencies that will enable them to develop capacity and long-term commitment to sustainability for everyday life, career engagement or voluntary service as environmentalists or influencers. Each secondary school will be represented by a team of at least five (5) students and a coordinating teacher. ISNAD-Africa will provide technical support, monthly/quarterly meetings, as well as share possible opportunities with the clubs. Tropical Forest Alliance — Tropical Forest Commodities Challenge

The Tropical Forest Alliance (TFA) and UpLink launch the Tropical Forest Commodities Challenge, calling for solutions for systemic change in commodity supply chains that rely on deforestation free practices. Solutions should deliver benefits to the global environment, while also ensuring sustainable livelihoods. Submissions may either be existing solutions with tracked success, or new entrepreneurial ideas. The best 10-20 submissions will be invited to a 4-month cohort program by Tropical Forest Alliance as part of the World Economic Forum. Submissions are being accepted until 27 August 2021.
